We had a very casual Saturday, had a wonderful brunch at home and mucked around with the dogs. Then in the afternoon we took Mum & Dad to Rouse Hill shopping center. Dad and Steve did more shopping than us girls which was a bit of a shocker. Mum got a massage and Dad had a fun time in Borders Bookstore. It was nice just to wander around. Rouse Hill shopping center is a really nice place to shop. It’s built like an outdoor mall so its not just a huge big concrete building. I’ll take you all there when you visit 🙂
My parents arrived on Friday night and while I went to SingStar drinks at Scott’s, they stayed home and watched movies with Steve. Everyone had a lot of fun and I had a lot to drink. It worked out well. My mate Steve brought me a Birthday Cupcake which was really sweet as I didn’t have a birthday cake again this year. Apparently cakes don’t magically appear, I have to make them. Even my own 😛
Stephanie sent me my birthday present. I asked for this gorgeous purse from Equip but they didn’t have any in Townsville so she sent me cash to buy it instead. To my delight it was on sale for $10… bargain. I love clutches with coin purse clips, I have quite a few now.
As well as the cash she also sent me a magnet with an inspiring quote and a little BUD duck. How lucky am I!!! This is Daydreamer duck and it’s totally perfect. Thanks Steph oxox
My Great Aunty Sylvia gave me Great Uncle Malcom’s old Pentax. He passed away a few years ago and was an avid amateur photographer. I feel honoured to be given it. I’m going to get it cleaned this week and buy one or two rolls of film. Developing is going to suck as I hate paying for prints but I’ll have to get used to it for my course as I have to use a 35mm camera, not digital.
On Saturday night Mum, Dad, Steve and I went to Embers Restaurant for dinner. The food was OK, the service was worse but we got a really nice $35 bottle of wine for almost nothing so that made us happy enough. It was a nice casual affair. I’m really glad my parents could make it down to help us celebrate.
Mmmmm Roche Gelato
Mum and Dad left at lunchtime today and Steve and I headed to the Windsor Sunday Markets. Normally Steve can’t stand the crowds so we’re in and out within 20 minutes, but today it was a slower pace and we spent about 2 hours rummaging and sticky-beaking around. It was really nice to spend the day together, holding hands and swinging shopping bags full of goodies.
On Belinda’s blog she mentioned her new cow hide rug. Well this place is in Windsor and they have gorgeous hides if anyone’s interested. Support local craftsmen too.
We bought a few things for the kids and then wandered amoung the gardening section. They had gorgeous adult orchid plants for $30 in various colours and shades. Orchids require a bit of work so didn’t give in to temptation. I wasn’t so lucky in my favourite wholesale bookstore. I always find something in there and today was no different. I bought two books, one about flower arrangements and home decoration, the other about how to display artwork, photos and use colour to decorate the home. These huge, hard cover glossy books were $10 each, normally $50 each. Bargain.
After all the wandering, bargaining and buying we made a pit-stop at one of the quaint cafes and shared a ginormous plate of Nacho Grande. It was totally delicious and well deserved. Afterward we waddled to the car, returned some DVDs and went home. Such a splendid way to end the weekend.
How was your weekend?
