I was so bored I did a mock set up for the dinner party. Sure it’s 2 weeks away but who cares, it was fun! It was also informative as I had to reassess some of my initial plans and had time to think up some alternative ideas. For instance there really isn’t much room for an abundance of flowers as I originally planned. There is hardly any room for the gravy boat! I might remove the silver charges that lay underneath the main dinner plate, that should spare up some room.
Another problem I sighted was the napkins. While their location is prefect, the white linen against the white china makes the napkin disappear. I contemplated buying black ones when I bought the black table runner but I wasn’t 100% sure. At least now I know I need them and have time to go and grab them. I’ll also grab the teal coloured taper candles from Spotlight that I convinced myself I didn’t need. How wrong was I!
Maybe instead of the candelabra, I’ll hang white paper lanterns from the roof. You can get really cool LED battery powered lights for them now, so the room would still have a nice soft glow. Then it would leave room for at least one flower display and I could scatter a couple of votive candles.
