New Year + New Hair

I was working, trudging along as best I could, waiting impatiently for the clock to hit 4pm. During my lousy 15min break I called Lou and begged for a haircut. No colour, no wash, no blow dry, just a cut. He was swamped... but made space for me. Lou is the best.Steve and I raced over after work. I felt better already as I slunk into the seat, my hair wet in the basin. He caved and washed it for me. He said the only reason he made time for me today was because I sounded so depressed on the phone. ... [ Discover More ]

DVD

I finally got some of the best images on DVD for Anna Marie. As a little "thank you" for being my first model. Not all of them, but the best ones. Not every model will get this privilege, just my first. It feels good to hold it in my hands. My work.I've got two confirmed photoshoots, one with Luke in January and one with Lorretta in February. Today my boss asked me to do a shoot of her as well. I also have a few others in the works but we've yet to confirm dates. Very exciting.I'm slowly ... [ Discover More ]

We got a Chicken… what did you get?

I thought I'd show a few of the xmas presents I received that made me thankful, ponder, giggle and cry. Steve and I received a worldly conscious gift, a chicken sponsorship through World Vision from our friend Wendy. Then we received the most beautiful placemats I've ever seen from the Schultz family. I started taking down the Christmas decorations around the house today. The tree is still up but that's about it. I'm keen to jazz the place up for summer and these placemats our perfect for our ... More of Steve’s Outdoor Room

Isn't it fantastic. We found an assortment of terracotta and plastic pots. We had one cactus and two succulents then we got given a whole bunch of cuttings from our lovely friend Scott who has a million of them. I think it looks lovely and I'm keeping my eyes out for tiny terracotta's on sale.Ok, enough about succulents. Here's Steve's room. We got more hanging baskets ($2ea), a screen to cover the ugly old fence ($17 for 3mtrs), lots more plants and the result is a very happy hubby. Toby & ... [ Discover More ]

Joshua, Stephanie, Mum, Dad, Steven & Me.We had wonderful Christmas spent with family. Lots of beers were drank, food was eaten and I'm happy to say we even had time to take a few family pictures. Hopefully we'll be able to travel up there over new years to join them on the beach. Our xmas table looked superb. We had Lamb Leg roasted on the BBQ with oven ... [ Discover More ]

White Xmas Party

[Me looking like a pulp fiction angel]On Saturday night, right after the photo shoot Anna Marie and I drove to Scott's Sexy White Xmas Party. The house was covered in colour changing light bulbs and lots of black lights. Everyone was told to wear white and it looked fantastic. So simple and cheap, what a great theme. It was a lovely affair, not too many people so we weren't crowded (Scott's parties can have 40+) and everyone got a chance to catch up, something which I've even found difficult to ... My First Photoshoot… in 3 years

[I took this photo as a reminder... humble beginnings]Man I was nervous. I didn't have any confidence in my own abilities... realising this made me even more nervous and a little sad. I've been behind the lens since I was 12. Camera's fascinated me and still do but there is still so much for me to learn. I tend to put too much pressure on myself and I definitely did on Saturday afternoon.Half hour before the shoot Steve was asleep on the couch (ate too much Chinese me thinks) and I was pacing. ... Chinese Food

Steve and I rarely get take out. If we do it's because it's really late or we feel like treating ourselves. Last night after our hand work on Steve's outdoor room, we indulged in some Chinese. We haven't had Chinese in YEARS as we always prefer Thai. Anyway, indulge we did and it was beautiful. We had satay king prawns, spring rolls, special fried rice, hot chili beef and Mongolian lamb... yum. We even had prawn crackers. It was nice to do something different and spoil ourselves. What do you get ... [ Discover More ]

Steve’s Outdoor Room

Steve is difficult to buy for. I wanted to spoil him this year but I was stuck on ideas. I thought about gadgets, but he wouldn't use them, games but he wouldn't play them, books but he wouldn't read them and clothes... he has more than enough for a bloke. One idea that I've been holding onto for a long time was doing up his "Man Room". The newest issue of BHG magazine as well as RL magazine inspired the quest for an outdoor room.BHG mag had a great couple of stories relating to hanging baskets, ... [ Discover More ]

Tobi

This is Steve... steam cleaning our blinds in the bathroom. He's using the travel steamer we got for free. The Tobi has been going great guns and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm quite fond of it too now. It's great for work, especially if I want to wear the crumply shirt that has been in the washing basket all week. One quick zip with the Tobi and I'm done.Steve's used it for everything, cleaning the mattresses (kills dust mites), the couches, the dining chairs, the curtains and blinds (as ... [ Discover More ]

Nervous/Excited

That's kinda how I feel about my model portrait session this Saturday. It happened spur of the moment, a happy accident you could call it. I was (finally) finishing off one of my assignments before work and left a status update on Facebook saying I needed a model for my next assignment. I didn't think much of it and went to work.So I get home, flop in my chair and check facebook because lets face it, I'm as addicted as anyone. Page loads and low and behold I have 5 people ASKING for the gig. You ... [ Discover More ]

I always seem to go to the cinema spur of the moment. I get the urge, check the website for session times and call my movie buddy Luke to see if he's available. 8/10 times he his which is awesome. We both love movies... and the candy bar.The movie was great, long but I think it had to be. Makes me want to go home, but I know I'll be going to Darwin with Steve in June so it's not that long to wait. I enjoyed the movie. I laughed, I cried. I'm not much of movie reviewer, that's what critics are ... [ Discover More ]

The gift of giving less

This year my family set a limit, $10 for each person. When I told my friends they said "It can't be done", "That seems a bit cheap" and "What kind of gift could you give for $10?"... the first comment was so negative it made me feel more positive about what we were trying to achieve. The second comment made me see that some people have forgotten that "to receive is a gift in itself" and the third inspired this post. There is nothing sweeter than a well wrapped present. The thought and time ... [ Discover More ]

Company Xmas Party

Nicki, Debra, Christine & Me... all fresh off the dance floor. On Saturday afternoon the four of us jumped on a bus in Blacktown and made our way into the city. It felt like it took forever but we finally made it to the city. Our company xmas party was held at the IBM building in the CBD. The whole place looked gorgeous. We were greeted with champagne and canapes. We all felt like rock stars. It was a little unnerving though. EVERYONE blatantly checked your outfits, the good old "up&down" ... [ Discover More ]

Made me Giggle

As soon as I saw this I giggled and thought of my Dad. Blogging, for me, all started when I lived far away from my friends and was planning a wedding. It was all her idea. I started back in 2006 and today I have posted more than 1300 posts and that's just on this blog, I'm involved in others as well. Seriously crazy.I used to bug my mum and sister to read my blog. I'd call them and talk about things I'd done and try to describe them and end up saying "just read my blog, you'll see a picture". It ... [ Discover More ]

BBQ

On Sunday Steve and I invited a few people around for a BBQ tomorrow night. Now it seems it's going to rain and ruin everything. Oh well, the weather might prevail and grant us a rain free night... maybe. It's just a casual affair, some sausages, bread, garden salad, tomato sauce... that kind of thing. Nothing fancy. Might even have it in the driveway. Put some lights up. Maybe. It will be nice to just have some friends over and relax knowing full well that neither of us will have to drive home ... Ear Candles WARNING… Gross

www.alternetdetox.com.au RATING 3.5/5www.biosun.com.au RATING 5/5I've been using ear candles since 2003 when I discovered them at the Pharmacy I worked at. Here's a brief explanation as to why I started using them;I've been suffering from hay fever as long as I could remember. I always seemed to get ear infections as a child and in 2005 I was diagnosed with polyps in my nasal cavity. Gross huh. I gets better. My whole face was swollen. I just thought I had a fat face. Skype is awesome…

These two cuties definitely think so!Interstate call charges on mobiles are so stupid. I don't have a home phone and a lot of my friends are only accessible via their mobiles... and friendship can only last a short time through SMS. I usually speak to Dani on a daily basis, the odd text, share a laugh, ask a question. The last few weeks though have been a bit of a stretch. Not just with Dani but with most of my friends. Dani decided we both download Skype and spread the word. Awesome ... [ Discover More ]

Tobi

Steve's new toy. You wouldn't believe the shock on my face when Steve said all he wanted for xmas was a clothes steamer. No games, DVDs, Simpson's paraphernalia, tools... he wanted a Tobi. Damn those Danoz Direct infomercials.Basically, you fill the blue part with water, plug the cord in, turn it on and direct the steam nozzel against the clothes and TA DA! Wrinkle free clothes. It's a quite bizarre item to lust for as we rarely iron anyway. None of my clothes need ironing (bought them for a ... [ Discover More ]
