Buffet $50 SOLD
Steve and I have started culling with the help of Mum this week. Our little house is prefect for 2 but not for 3, it’s just a little too crowded. To be honest the house is over flowing with my stuff. All arranged perfectly with everything in it’s place of course but none the less a change has occurred and we’re doing what we know we do well. Reorganising.
Hutch $30 EBAY (here)
We cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, donated some things to charity, kept some for friends. We decided on the furniture we wanted VS needed and I decided to be ruthless. I know a baby (and it’s stuff) takes up a lot of space so I wanted to have a semi blank canvas to work with. Don’t get me wrong, I like my stuff but I don’t want to move to a bigger house for it. The buffet for example, blocks the hallway, the hutch is too bulky and since I’m no longer having a studio I can’t justify the waste of space. It is by far my favourite piece.
Dresser $12 EBAY (here)
The Dresser is nice but the draws and storage are a bit impractical for a nursery. It’s also bulky and matches the hutch so it would be nice if someone bought them both to keep them together. If you search my blog (top left corner) and enter “hutch” or “buffet” you can see the before and after pics of my 2nd hand finds. It’s not about the money, purely space.
Wardrobe $50 EBAY (here)
Last but not least the vintage wardrobe. (pics of inside in link). Too sweet. I keep my shoes and handbags in it. It’s so divine but again, it’s bulky and the storage wouldn’t suit a nursery. I hate to part with it but it’s time.
If you love any of these pieces as much as I do just jot me an email: email@example.com
and we’ll see what we can do. I’d love to find them a loving home otherwise they’ll be donated to my local op shop.
So I bet you’re wondering what I’m going to be left with. Well I have the Chaise Ottoman
(slash couch/ change table/single bed/fold out double bed), the Cot & Cradle
and the small bookcase
that will be going in the nursery. That’s it. Trying to keep it simple. Trying. My studio? Well it will be merged with the Guest room. Somehow I’ve managed to plan a way that my long and lovely computer desk, guest bed and magazine bookcase can coexist in a way that our guests are comfy and I have a functional workspace… with a place to nap.
Steve and I are attempting to dismantle the guest room tomorrow and continue the purging process. In less than two months Steve’s Dad and sister Heather will be arriving and I want the house sorted prior to that. It’s not a big demand and quite doable. The sooner we lose the larger bulky items the more space we’ll have to work with and the less stress later down the track. I’m already 3 months behind!
