This is where Steve will find me most days, sitting in my comfy chair grinning a big hello. I can’t believe it used to look like THIS. There is a lot less clutter but the character of the room seems to be lacking. Something I’m trying to rectify. Slowly.
The room has always needed curtains. I just hadn’t been back to IKEA since I bought THESE which are perfect. I plan to buy more on my next trip. I’ve always loved the light in this room though and yes that is a paper lantern hanging from a bear light bulb. I don’t like overhead lights (I love lamps) so it’s rarely turned on and I desperately needed something to cover the ugly bulb.
I still hate the colour of the walls… with a passion I might add, but I’m learning to deal with it. The blue paintings are being donated. Time for something new. The wardrobe is completely cleaned out and organised. I’m not liking the bare walls.
So this is where my desk now resides. No more gorgeous window to stare out of but now I have a new wall to display some of my pretties. I just love how my desk just slipped into the space perfectly. I still have to find a new way to organise my loose paper files and stacks of paper but I’ll get there. Maybe IKEA will have a solution similar to THIS oh and Mum’s suitcase wont be there forever.
On display I have my DIY calendar and a cork board so far. I have 4 simple black frames with white mattes that I plan to arrange in a horizontal line above my desk OR position them into a square on the left side of my desk and add two more in a horizontal line on the right side, to balance out the size of the screen and fill the space a bit more. Opinions please.
Now this is the nursery so far. Pretty crap hey! No, it will get better I just have to be patient. We’ve still got the big vintage wardrobe as I have to relist it (Grrrr stupid bidder) on ebay and until that’s gone we can’t buy the draws from IKEA as there is no room and thus no storage. This room gets great light and breeze. Mum’s been hanging out in there reading on the daybed.
There are bits and pieces still floating around that need to be found a home (vacuum & steamer) and the bookshelf wasn’t meant to be in here but wouldn’t fit in the studio. I’m trying to put the nursery to the back of my mind until I can really start working on it.
So there, that’s it so far. I know it’s not much and pretty boring but concidering what these two rooms looked like only 3 days ago I think we’ve (mum & steve) have done a pretty awesome job.
