I was quietly tapping away at my computer, LM and I chilling out to some rainforrest tunes when I heard barking. I knew it was Tipsy, the girl on the other side of the back fence. I thought nothing of it until I heard Toby do his dominant bark. It was too early in the day for Toby & Charlie’s normal rough and tumble. I go to the back door and this is what I see. Seriously, for about 3 seconds I thought “Do I have 3 dogs?”.
Tipsy is a gorgeous Labrador X Mastiff. She is quite playful and not fully trained which made putting a lead on her quite amusing. I of course wasn’t in the yard, I called Steve to come and deal with the situation. 3 big dogs, one of which not mine and a pregnant lady, not a good mix. Steve came to the rescue and played with them while we waited for the neighbor to come and get her.
The back fence is really rotted and it’s due to be replaced by Tipsy’s owners… eventually. At least we know the boys wont maul her (heaven forbid) if there is a disagreement, it’s their territory after all, but we raised our boys with manners lol. They’re familiar at least, always playing through the fence. Tipsy and Charlie are rather sweet on eachother. They’re the same age. There was lots of kisses but thankfully no humping. I’d just woke up, I didn’t need that. Tipsy’s owner was relieved to know our boys have both had the snip. I was relieved she didn’t have any fleas or ticks… the dog not the owner 😉
Steve fixed the fence as best he could and enjoyed playing in the sun. The boys thought it was xmas to have a morning tea play date with Dad. Toby and Tipsy are off chasing a ball and Charlie is doing what he does best, showing off to Dad. He loves to do tricks and his favourite is “paw”, you don’t even have to ask him to do it anymore lol.
Eventually Tipsy’s owner arrived, but she wasn’t leaving without a quick bath to cool down from all the loving Charlie was giving her. Charlie had blast, Toby was beside himself trying to take control and Tipsy was a ball of fun. It wasn’t how I expected to start my day but it was nice to get outside and take some pictures. Also I’m sick (thanks Steve) and I’m off to return all those library books and see what the pharmisist will allow me to have.
