Isn’t it just darling! I’m quite proud of my efforts. To tell you the truth I went a bit over board for a work BBQ but once I started I couldn’t help myself. Plus I had a few new piping nozzles I’ve been meaning to try out. I’m really chuffed of my buttercream icing too, it came out perfect. I got the cute Easter eggs and bunny from ALDI of course. I just loved the wrappers, so different and festive.
I made Devils Food Cake, with choc fudge as the middle layer and iced with vanilla buttercream, some of which I coloured Aqua to jazz it up a little. The cake was so moist and lovely. I made it last night, wrapped it in a tea towel and put it in Tupperware. The icing came out so crisp white because I did a crumb layer first, put it in the freezer for 5 min then did the final layer of icing.
I also use paper towel to smooth the icing, that’s how I made those sweet little patterned marks on the icing. Looks like lace. I piped little star flower “nests” for the eggs to sit in and piped tiny little dots to tie it all together. Everyone thought it was beautiful and took photos and it was the first to disapear. It got rave reviews. I haven’t made a cake in a long time and this took about an hour and half but it was worth it. My next challenge is 2 tiers. Maybe for Steve’s b’day…Oh and this is what I wore to the BBQ, because you all know I’m loving dressing for the bump.
