On Saturday my parents drove down from Newy and after a quick cuppa we headed over to Alice’s for my Baby Shower… eeeek!!! It was almost like it was his birthday and he isn’t even born yet! Alice & Benny did such a fantastic job and everyone had a great time. No games just lots of yummy food and wine a-plenty… obviously no wine for me.
The cake they ordered was HUGE… I have half of it sitting in my fridge even though everyone went back for seconds, it was sooo delicious and looked simply stunning. Nothing like some of the crazy cakes from Cake Wrecks.
In America everything is big, including the servings of cake. It was a lovely chocolate cake with jam and cream filling and light buttercream frosting and even a few choc sprinkles on the side. I think it’s the first time I’ve never had to make a cake for one of our functions.
There was a LOT of wine and it smelled so good but I didn’t have a single drop, the smell is lovely but I don’t want to drink. The lunch was AMAZING, so so good. So good that I was too busy eating to take a photo. Alice made a delicious Goulash in a rich sauce served with Alice’s signature cloud whipped mash potatoes and gorgeous side salad. It was the perfect meal for such a cold day. I even got some take away for dinner tonight, I’d do anything for her potatoes. Shannon (the captain’s wife, who is awesome) made several platters of antipasto and nibbles which were gobbled down in a flash. She also made a really yummy crab pate which I have to get the recipe for. Of course, no photos… hands to busy feeding my face 🙂
Me and my puffy face and the china eyes I get when I’ve really happy. Must invest in darker lipstick and get my eyebrows done. I haven’t bought a playmat for LM as I hadn’t seen one that really popped out at me. This one is sooo cute and in my colours, bonus. Everyone gave me goodie bags filled with bits and peices, none of which I had which was brilliant.
It was a bit wierd to sit there and open everything with everyone watching. I thought they’d be bored but everyone got in on the action, even the guys. I got a lot of bibs which I needed and Dad was getting quite snap happy with my camera… I really need that directional flash before LM arrives.
Me… gushing over socks. What I love about this photo is that everyone else is just as interested in the little tiny socks as I am lol. I’m so weird, I don’t even wear shoes that require socks but I have a huge fetish for baby socks. Alice bought me some gorgeous ones. There was even a sky blue pair with little tiny clouds on them. Alice said she bought them for Steve as they reminded her of the Simpsons lol.
Semi decent photo of me, all 3 chins included. Everything LM got was really practical, useful and one less thing Steve and I had to worry about buying. Oh and Dani, if you’re wondering why I’m not wearing the outfit we discussed earlier… Mum rocked up wearing a pale blue top and a white cardigan lol.
Of course there was a big dicussion “Disposables VS Cloth” which everyone jumped in on, they couldn’t understand the price I paid for my BumGenius’ and Benny happily bought me a pack of newborn disposables to try and convert me. I didn’t bother trying to explain in detail, I’ll show them when they arrive… or make them change a nappy! Everyone said they had a great time and so did I. Steve had a little too much fun but he’s paying for it today… he’s not as young as he used to be lol.
Thanks Alice & Benny!!!
