My Ob ordered a 4 hour blood pressure test at my last appointment and I had to done today. Seriously a great way to spend a perfect sunny Saturday… not. In the end it took 5 hours and was so boring I had a nap. The best part was the trace and hearing LM’s heartbeat and having to press the button every time he moved. A fun game. Thankfully Olly was in my handbag and kept me entertained for awhile.
This is me, don’t I look sexy sprawled out on the bed with my huge belly bulging about. I knew I didn’t look good but I had to take a photo.
I think the sound of LM’s heartbeat will be stuck in my head for a few days. It was magical to hear and was great to know that he’s healthy and happy where he is right now. The were happy to discharge me and agreed with my Ob that any day from now could be THE day and I just have to keep an eye on things and keep in contact with the birthing suite if I have any questions. We really felt cared for.
The room was really big and it was the most basic. I like that there are plenty of comfy chairs and the bathrooms are so spacious. I kept staring at the little baby bench where they do the Apgar scale and thinking, “wow, LM will be crying on there soon”.
Steve was a trooper. I packed a bag of snacks for him (which he said he wouldn’t need) and when I woke from my nap the bag was empty lol. His PSP was doing a great job of entertaining him… until the batteries went flat. He was an angel and gave me a foot massage and talked to my bump. I would have gone bonkers without him. Then we heard a baby make it’s first cry and Steve and I looked at eachother and I cried happy hormonal tears because it’ll be LM next.
So in conclusion, I laid flat on my back for 5 hours, had blood taken, had my blood pressure taken every hour and had to pee in a cup. Nothing about my state concerned the midwives and I just have to wait to talk to my Ob next week about the overal results. LM has reduced in activity so I have to keep an eye on him and call when he’s gone too long without movement. The End.
