Aidan: is Irish and means “Fiery“. My mothers background is Irish. During Dad’s speech at our wedding he described his first impression of Steve as “a fiery little red head darting about the soccer field” (Steve’s hair goes red in sunlight just like Aidan’s). His name ends in “Dan” short for Danielle. I also found that we’d picked Aidan over 5 years ago in my fertility journal. It was meant to be.
Ryan: means “Little King“, quite appropriate for our long awaited first born son. Ryan is a name I’ve had picked out since primary school. I’ve never met a Ryan I didn’t like and they’ve always been gentlemen. I originally wanted to name my first born Steven Ryan but I ended up marrying a Steven so that was out lol.
So Aidan is our Fiery Little King which is quite funny since he’s the calmest baby I’ve ever met. We chose a lovely name, free of complicated spelling or school yard teasing. Our last name is long so his first name is short. It’s a name he can be proud of with no embarrassing undertones. It suits him as a baby and will also as a man. Sure his initials are A.R.M. but that’s not really something worth making fun of. The only thing that bugs Steve and I is that some people still tend to call him Aiden… not Aidan, but we understand he’s only new and people will get it eventually 🙂
