A couple of weeks ago I shared my breastfeeding area with you and as time goes on the soft squishy couch is taking it’s toll on my back so I’ve decided to change things around. I’ve been patiently searching for the right chair to replace the 2-seater in the lounge room. I wanted an armchair glider like the one above. Whilst they may be popular in the US and readily available, getting one here seems impossible… without paying boutique prices anyway. When the Toys R Us catalogue arrive and this ensemble was $300 off I thought it warranted a test drive. Mum and I bundled Aidan in the car and set off to try our luck. It was nice, really nice… so I ordered one. The wood matches the rest of the house and the cushion is made of the same fabric as our couch so even though the colours aren’t the same, they still work well together. The cushions look a little green in the picture but it’s actually beige.
Which brings us to the lounge room. Mum and I gave the room a good clean and I got rid of a lot of the clutter. I cleared off the mantle as it was so crowed and dusted everything. Ok, so Mum did most of the dusting but I was busy with the baby… anyway, The 2-seater is being put into storage as it takes up so much room and the new glider will go in it’s place. I’m hoping that it will really open up the space and give Aidan and I a bit more room for tummy time. Which brings us to the rug. I’ve had conversations with Steve about this for awhile now. It’s too dark. It’s lovely thick pile navy wool and was the first expensive thing we bought together when we started buying things for our home. We’d never get rid of it, just put it out of rotation until we’re living in a home with a larger living area that can take the darkness against our chocolate couches.
We always made a point at looking for a new rug when we were out shopping and in catalogues but nothing really caught our eye. There are lots of lovely rugs in the US but shipment prices are crazy and when is a rug really an expensive necessity? That is until I saw an Australian website on Belinda’s blog and Steve and I spent a good half hour pouring through the site and finally picked a winner. The beige should brighten the space and the chocolate tones will work well with the couch and the new glider. We’ve also agreed on purchasing new cushions and I think I’ve already found them at Spotlight but I’ll wait until the glider and rug arrive. I’ll post photos when it all comes together.
