Merry Christmas

Steve and I shared Aidan's first Christmas with my family on the coast and it was lovely. We had 4 generations gathered together to celebrate, eat good food and drink plenty of beer, or in my case lemonade. Aidan was really good for the drive up and has been a little star, soaking up all the attention, chuckling, talking and smiling to anyone within his sights. Everyone thought he was absolutely marvelous and we couldn't agree more.He ate some Christmas dinner (potato/coliflower/sweet potato) ... [ Discover More ]

Cheat Cake *editted*

It's not really a cake but looks and tastes like one. In actual fact it's cookies & cream so if you love that combination this "cake" is totally up your alley. All you do is sandwich Arnotts Choc Ripple biscuits with cream, form into a log shape and then cover in even more cream. Yep, it's a heart attack on a plate and it's divine! To put my own personal twist into the recipe I made it into a "Black Forrest" Choc Ripple Cake. I had a jar of preserved pitted cherries and a mushed up about a ... [ Discover More ]

Carpet Burn

Call it necessity, call it creative, call it boredom... but whatever you call it, they'll still be too cute. I was inspired by Living Shell (a fellow baby forum Mumma) to make Aidan a pair of baby leggings... from socks. I found a simple tutorial on Flickr and the whole project was completed in under 10 minutes.I bought a pair of knee-high socks for $3 and after a few snips and stitches they were done. Granted, I could have made two pairs but the scrunchy look is cute and he'll grow into them ... [ Discover More ]

New Rug

BEFOREAFTERWe put the second couch in storage and replaced it with my awesome Glider & Ottoman. That move alone opened up the space so much and breastfeeding is so much more comfortable now. We also received our new rug and it's perfect and totally brightens the room. We cleaned the navy rug and also put it in storage as we both still really love it. We originally planned on buying a different design but at the last minute changed our minds and went for something a bit more plain. We're ... [ Discover More ]

Giveaway

I have a very special giveaway this week. Justin Hunter is a composer with the golden touch. I thank this man for Aidan's blissful sleeps as he listens to his album, "Honey Keys" during every nap and bedtime. I can put Aidan in his cot and he lulls himself off to la-la land. I've played it to Aidan since the day he was born and intended on listening to it during labor but as you know I had a c-section so I enjoyed it during recovery instead. Steve and I hear it so often but we find his music so ... [ Discover More ]

Dear Santa

I've been a very good lady this year and even managed to grow the sweetest little baby boy in my belly and pop him out in time to meet you. I'm very thankful for everything we've been blessed with and nothing could make our lives richer. Please don't think I'm being ungrateful but I'd really like one of these super duper awesome camera bags for Christmas, but if you're feeling the pinch this year I understand. I'll just have to hope Steve reads my blog and it inspires him as a 25th birthday ... [ Discover More ]

Mothers Group

Mother's Group is every Tuesday and through it I've met some pretty nice people, some whom I meet up with outside of group. Unfortunately due to lack of government funding there will be no more group... ever. I feel sorry for the new mums in the area who will miss out. I know that building a social network in the new world of "mums&bubs" is difficult, I made business cards for goodness sake. Without group I don't know where my head space would be.Last week there was a mini photo session run ... [ Discover More ]

Oh, how they grow!

He's almost 4 months, can you believe it because I can't! I don't know whether it's because I'm doing the same thing over and over again and the days are just blurring but time seems to be slipping away. At the moment he's feeding 9-12 times a day. Thankfully he's gotten better at the whole thing and only takes 15 minutes but still, it's really draining... in every sense of the word. I'm really proud that we're still able to breastfeed but I do have my down moments. I know it's the best thing ... [ Discover More ]

Giveaway

I told you there were more goodies on the way! My lovely friend Bethwyn is the mother of two gorgeous boys and began making little pretties and clips to fill the void of girlie trinkets in her life. Her boys are crazy about dinosaurs so all that repressed femininity resulted in some pretty sweet goodies which you can purchase here. For one lucky reader I have a set of two Pink & Chocolate Clips, a set of five girlie Christmas Clips and a pair of adorable Button Hair Ties with tiny sheep on ... Moet & Fireworks

Friday night was awesome. I'd been waiting for it all year. Steve's work Christmas dinner, and this is what it was like last year. It's always a very posh affair but as always I'd left picking an outfit until the last second. Thankfully my friend Casey had a gorgeous silky maxi dress (City Chic) and blue bolero that I could borrow. I made a hair appointment and Lou made me all pretty and insisted he style my hair. One side kind of sweeps to the other with a million bobby pins and lots of GHD ... [ Discover More ]

Toby’s Very Funny

Tuesday's are busy days at our house. Steve works late, it's usually pay day and Aidan and I have Mothers Group. This video was taken just after Mum, Aidan and I got home from group. Washing had to be taken off the line and Aidan was restless so hung out with Grandma. I was inside sorting some stuff out and I heard Toby barking at Aidan and then heard Aidan crying... well that's what I thought was going on from inside. I peeked out the window, a huge grin spread across my face and raced to grab ... [ Discover More ]

I know, my timing is so off on this one but I couldn't very well give away the New Moon Soundtrack on my blog if I hadn't actually seen the movie yet now could I? My local cinema wasn't showing it in the cinema with the crying room so I couldn't take Aidan. Finally last night the planets aligned and Aidan had a feed just before the movie started so I was able to leave him at home with his Daddy. It was nice to go by myself, eat malteasers and absorb myself in the story. So as I said, I'm giving ... [ Discover More ]

Conversations with Aidan

In the morning, after Aidan has had breakfast, I go back to bed and Grandma gets some one-on-one playtime with the baby. It's a lovely arrangement that suits everyone. I'm really going to miss those morning sleep-in's when Grandma goes home on Saturday and I think Aidan is really going to miss all those Grandma tickles. Grandma gets up to some pretty crazy stuff and always manages to catch things on camera. Everyday I wake up to new photo surprises like a silly outfit or crazy hats, or giggles ... [ Discover More ]
