He’s almost 4 months, can you believe it because I can’t! I don’t know whether it’s because I’m doing the same thing over and over again and the days are just blurring but time seems to be slipping away. At the moment he’s feeding 9-12 times a day. Thankfully he’s gotten better at the whole thing and only takes 15 minutes but still, it’s really draining… in every sense of the word. I’m really proud that we’re still able to breastfeed but I do have my down moments. I know it’s the best thing for him but sometimes I feel selfish and tired, kind of like my life-force has been sucked out of me and the lovely feelings I get whilst feeding disappears. not all the time, just enough to make the good feeds seem awesome.
We play a lot. I thought I knew plenty of baby games but my mum taught me even more. He adores nursery rhymes and I find myself singing them all the time without thinking about it. We read stories together after he’s had lunch and dinner. Bath time is always a treat now he’s learnt to splash. Steve, Aidan and I shower together almost every night and we all enjoy it, it’s a very happy time. Aidan’s also becoming increasingly interested in dinner time and insists on sitting at the table with us. He sits and stares and even does air-chews, it’s too cute. He had a finger-full of mash potato last night and enjoyed it. Ok, he rolled it around a bit, smiled then pushed it out then giggled but it’s a start. We’re going to have him sit in his bumbo during dinner and play with our food. Should be fun… and very messy.
He’s a very good sleeper and naps for 30-45 min after each feed. He still wakes up 2 times a night for a feed but that’s normal for a breast fed baby. After each nappy change he has tummy time, sometimes he loves it sometimes he hates it but either way he’s getting much stronger. He loves to grab things and is getting great control of his hands and movements. I’m always putting things just out of his reach and 80% of the time he’ll get it. Cloth nappies are going great guns and it’s one of the best choices we made for our family. That said my load of nappies has just finished and needs to be hung… back soon when Aidan give me a minute 🙂
