Swimming Lessons

Aidan & IWe had our very first swimming class on Thursday and it was great. Well it would have been great if I wasn't 15 minutes late to a class that goes for 20 minutes. Ah well... wont be late next week that's for sure. That said the 5 minutes we were in the pool for we lots of fun.Being instructedI was lucky enough to have two mothers from my weekly group to join the very same class. It's nice to have company and a pair of spare trustworthy hands when you need them. Stephanie came along ... [ Discover More ]

Cooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Aidan & StephanieIt seems this week I got myself a life, well something similar to one. I've been busy and not just with laundry or buying more watermelons for Aidan to gum to death. My Mum & Dad have gone home but my awesome sister Stephanie is spending some time at the Mezza house and enjoying getting to know her nephew now she's back from Europe. It's so weird to think of my sister as an Aunty but that's what she is and it's pretty cool to witness them bonding. We've been watching ... [ Discover More ]

Winner!

Permanently Twenty ThreeMy car is like an oversized handbag, filled with spew rags, dummies, cans and bottles, baby socks, chocolate wrappers and bits of paper. The only way it gets clean is if I take it to my local detailer who clears it out and puts everything in a box and makes everything shiny and dirt free. My car makes me blush, obviously yours does too. Enjoy the book! Please email me your postal address and I'll ship it off straight away. ... [ Discover More ]

Stories & Presents

Stephanie & Mum in ParisAt the moment our house is filled with family as my Mum & Sister have returned from Europe. It seems as though Aidan will be cuddled to death but either way he's loving all the extra attention. We all got spoilt rotten with gifts from abroad which I'll share with you all later. Right now I'm off to chill out and listen to them tell us all about their adventures. Have a great weekend ox ... [ Discover More ]

Good Intentions

Yep, we're in our pajamasI had a plan. I would blog of domestic cleanliness and everyone would adore it. You would frantically jot down notes on your PostIts, seemingly endless list of tips and tricks that I apply around my home and you would laugh at my witty jokes about rubber gloves and dirty cracks. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. I started the week with such good intentions and even though we're only halfway through the week the idea, the concept has died... after just one post. Maybe the ... [ Discover More ]

House Detox

I like stuff.I don't like clutter. This creates issues. When I was young my mother taught us to clean, as soon as we were able. If we could, we should and I hope to pass that on to Aidan. I know some adults who don't know how to empty a vacuum, use a washing machine or even iron a shirt. Sure, these days a lot of us can outsource but there is a sense of pride in maintaining ones home and I believe it's a valuable skill. This week I want to get domestic. I want to talk dirt, dust & grime. I want ... [ Discover More ]

We love (long) Weekends

Steve has been home today so we've been soaking up the extra 24hrs together. We took Aidan to the pool this afternoon and he LOVED it. Of course we were so busy having fun that we forgot to take photos. He starts swimming lessons next week and I can't wait. Swimming was a big part of my childhood and I want the same for him.I just jumped on to let you know I'm still here and thanks for all your support and understanding. I'll be back later on to announce a giveaway so be sure to keep an eye ... [ Discover More ]

The Milky Way

We've hit a feeding crossroads at our house and it's been really difficult, physically but it's also been especially hard emotionally. I considered not posting about it at all but everything has been milling over and over in my head and I just had to for my sanity's sake. As usual, this is my life, not a forum so if you don't have anything pleasant to say then please refrain, I'm a sensitive being and it's a sensitive topic.Aidan feeding at two weeks old Breastfeeding was really hard those ... "The Mumma" & Me

I'll admit, I'm a lazy being. These days even more so, especially regarding my appearance. I've turned into a tie-it-up-and-chuck-it-on kind of girl and I'm not really happy about it. Looking good makes me feel good and what I need right now (maybe not as much as sleep) is to feel good.Yesterday I had a hair appointment with my hair guru Lou and he worked his magic. How did you manage to get a colour/foils/wash/treatment/cut with a baby in tow? I hear you ask, well it's simple... I dragged ... [ Discover More ]

If you’re APPy and you know it

My iPhone needs some serious pimping otherwise it's just a camera phone. A very expensive camera phone. I'm new to the world of Apps and I'm hoping my lovely readers can lend me a hand by showing me a few of their favourites. Whether it's to organise your life, kill boredom, anything... I just feel silly having this great toy and not using it to it's potential. So far I've downloaded a few FREE Apps:iPeriod - Perfect for charting, I used to painstakingly use Calendar during my infertility and had ... A day in the life of a MCN

Let me start by saying we adore our BumGenius MCNs (Modern Cloth Nappies) and would never ever consider buying disposables again. We even took them on holidays and they were brilliant, sure a bit more luggage but worth the effort in our books. Anyway, I've had a couple of emails asking me how we're going overall with them since we've been using them full time for a couple of months now... so here goes. It's 06:30 and Aidan wakes everyone up for breakfast. He usually does a nice big poo and then I ... [ Discover More ]

Bad Day for Pumpkin

As you might have guessed we're experimenting with Baby Led Weaning at our house, you can see the book that inspired me in the left sidebar. I've read the book twice and gone back and referenced it many times. It might not be for everyone and I know people are going to have their opinions on the matter. It's kind of why I've been hesitant to talk about it at all but I've had a few inquiring emails and thought I may as well share what we've experienced so far.For starters Aidan doesn't get solid ... Tummy Time

Play Time is BIG here at the Mezza house. He sleeps, he eats, he does tummy time and then round and round we go, over and over. Thankfully I don't find the little darling boring as each time he figures out how to do something new. Like right now, as I type, he's laying on the bed behind me trying to stuff his toes in his mouth. He only learnt how to grab them two days ago. If only we could all be as limber! As a few of you have noticed, one of the new features on Danimezza is "Aidan's Favourites" ... [ Discover More ]

Blocks

My gorgeous BFF Rhian made Aidan these gorgeous blocks for his nursery and I adore them completely. She matched the colours from his room and added little details like paw prints to represent Toby & Charlie and a little soccer ball for Steve.I should mention these are completely handmade. Aidan loved staring at all the pretty colours and patterns. These are made for display only so they sit proudly on top of Aidan's Toy Shelves. UNDER CONSTRUCTION

It's 3am and I have been tinkering with my blog for hours and it's time for me give in for the night (morning) and come back tomorrow (later today :P) with fresh eyes to see what else needs doing. I combined staying up blogging with feeding Aidan so it's been a very productive night... poor Steve didn't get much attention though but that's OK, he was watching TV and got to have the remote for once lol. While I'm sleeping off my blogger template hangover, please leave some comments for feedback on ... Out of Action

We got back from our big trip away and ever since Steve and I have been sick... really sick. I'm typing this with my head resting on my hand, one eye open and one finger. That is how exhausted I am. I didn't want my readers to think I had gone AWOL and this is totally not how I planned to bring in the new year. Seriously, the only way from here is up people.I'll be back with lots of photos, hopefully a new-ish blog layout and all the latest goss... ... [ Discover More ]
