As Aidan’s getting more playful and taking an interest in things other than food I thought I would share his play areas with you. I’m trying to keep things as tidy and organised as I can, for as long as I can. I think I have a few good systems in place but if you have any tips please leave a comment…Every morning whilst I put his nappies in the wash, have a shower etc Aidan plays in his cot. He has a soft Lamaze book Grandma bought him for xmas and a mirror I picked up on sale. Also the teddy his Great Grandma made him and his black Labrador toy, he sleeps with both every night. I turn on his mobile and he rolls about and chews on things. Good times.
His mobile above his change table is still one of his favourite things. I changed the black & white pictures for butterflies cut out of scrapbooking paper I had in my craft box. He’s fascinated by butterflies and he just adores these.
When my sister Stephanie was in Germany she bought Aidan this gorgeous little wooden pull toy. I could pull that thing all day and he’d be content. Simple things really are the best. It sits above one the ottoman in his room and we always play with it after a feed there.
We have so many books but I want more. I’m always on the hunt at op shops and they’re always the thing I request as gifts. We read twice a day, after his midday nap and after a shower in the evening.
We hang out and read on his Ottoman in his room. There’s lots of cushions, blankets and space to spread out.
We’ve kept his toys pretty minimal. Our house (which we rent) has a very tiny living room and I was afraid he’d take over the space with all his stuff but it’s not that bad. We did have to move the swing outside but that’s come in handy for keeping him restrained while I hang out the washing.
He has a small basket of toys in the lounge room which I rotate every weekend. There is also a big wooden mirror so he can see me when I walk around the room and his thick velour blanket.
Of course now he loves his Jolly Jumper. He has little blue jumping pants and thick socks (as you suggested) and he’s happy bouncing like crazy. I thought this photo was quite fitting lol.
Where is your child’s favourite place to play?
