So I bought a $20 quilting set (self healing mat/rotary cutter/ruler guide) and some fabric. I wanted my colour choices to be unisex (incase Aidan got a brother or sister in the future) and the quilt to be filled with interesting patterns. As soon as I got the quilting section I was drawn to the rainbow patterned fabric (bottom of pile) and knew it would be the main element of the quilt. Once I had that I simply chose fat quarters that colour matched the main fabric. I already owned several meters of turquoise polka dot fabric so I plan on using that for the backing.
Steve’s going away for a week and leaves tomorrow so I twisted his arm and dragged him to Spotlight to pick up a few things I required for Aidan’s playmat. I needed a project for whilst he was away or I would go insane. The reason I chose to make a playmat is because the one he has now is too small… one roll and he’s off it. I considered buying one but couldn’t justify the cost as they can easily lead into the hundreds. Plus what’s better than making one myself!
