Some of the Hawkesbury Mums & Bubs
As you know, after I had Aidan I felt quite isolated socially and I even made Playdate Cards in the hopes of meeting a few people worth giving them too. It’s safe to say that I did and gosh… they are the best group of women! We started meeting weekly and at one stage there were 18 Mums in the group. It happened naturally that the group split up into two and now we have a great number of women who really support one another and share their stories and advice.
Me and my stud-muffin.
I was voted the coordinator of the group and keep myself busy sending out weekly newsletters with upcoming events, local info, shopping discounts and website links. I also take photos at each meet which is great practice for me and all the mums get photos for free. I plan weekly activities a month in advance including Cinema Days, Swimming days, Cafe Days, Family BBQs and days when we just go to someone’s house. I love being so involved in the process.
Fine Dining with Strollers
To celebrate Mothers Day I planned a lunch at the Sebel Hawkesbury Resort and everyone was really excited. We all got dressed up and did our hair. We dressed the babies in their cutest attire and shoved all the things they could possibly need into their strollers. We were seated at a lovely long linen covered table and drooled over the menu.
You all know I can’t help but put my personal stamp on things and the lunch was no different. I made small goodie boxes for each Mumma containing: Blue Mountains Honey Popcorn, a small Ladybug chocolate, a sample of the Leura Blue Mountains Lady Grey Tea and a small note card with a different “Mother” quotes written on each one. I planned on buying a bunch of red carnations and putting them in little vases but I ran out of time that morning. All the Mumma’s gushed at their gifts and each read out their cards, inspiring different points of conversation over lunch. The kids loved shaking the popcorn in the boxes and making noise. A winner all round.
My Grilled Lamb Entree
The food was delicious but I wished I’d ordered the ravioli when I saw what others had. It felt like we talked forever and it was so nice to be in a calm environment with a hot meal in front of us. With new babies that is definitely something worth bragging about. We all had an Entree & Mains and didn’t have one complaint, just rubbed our bellies and soaked the atmosphere all up.
Afterwards I planned a little photoshoot. I wanted a group photo and a few Mum & Bub photos as I know all too well that mums are usually behind the lens. I only editted and emailed them off this afternoon so I hope they’re pleased. I took the oppertunity to have one of the ladies take a couple of photos of Aidan & I… I’m really happy I did. The light was just magical and Aidan was in a playful mood.
I got a photo taken to show off my outfit too. It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a head-to-toe body shot for my blog. I’m cringing a little as I write this. There are lots of things I’m not happy with but overall I’m glad that this is the first photo. I’m smiling, I have great posture (something I’m working on) and I’m wearing gorgeous cobolt blue shoes and a top with a hint of sparkle. The crop jacket used to be a fave but I’m on the look out for a blazer.
Anyway, before I trail off onto a completley different post topic… I had a great time and I can’t wait to organise another. If you’re reading, thank you ladies for a wonderful and memorable afternoon xx
