I bought all the issues up until I was pregnant and traded it in for Practical Parenting and Mother & Baby magazines. When I was nesting I got rid of all my old issues (idiot) and now that I’ve got my boobs back to normal, I’m going to the gym and contemplating a new ‘do’ I found myself flicking through the pages of STYD… and what an issue to pick up! It was all about body image and the impact that the plus size body issue is having on fashion at the moment.
There were some great articles like this one above (click to enlarge and read) and even the editors letter was a good read. When I had Aidan I was
really tired blissful and happy, but a part of myself fell to the wayside. I let myself go. I wore PJs for months and I felt good if I took the time to brush my hair and teeth. It wasn’t a pretty stage and I’m glad I’m finally seeing the light. I stopped taking photos of myself sporting funky accessories and outfits which I know a lot of you liked to laugh at look at. I just wasn’t happy with myself and poured all my attention into Aidan. Look out because that is changing.
Now I’ve seen the light and I’m slowly finding balance. I threw out my comfy sack-like maternity bras and reentered the world of underwire. I’ve rediscovered my waist and I don’t leave the house without mascara, a rosy lipstain and gloss… just like way back when I gave a shit about how I looked. I’m losing weight and most importantly I’m starting to be nicer to myself. Reading the latest issue in bed with a cup of tea with Steve snoring next to me gave me a flashback that I really enjoyed reliving.
If you love fashion as much as
I used too I do, then you’ll love this issue. It reminded me that size is just a number and that I should keep by eyes pealed for goodies, even when I’m in stores that don’t cater for my size (20-22). Thank you STYD.
If you plus size fashion then check out some of the blog links in the first article, I was pretty proud that I had almost all of them in my blogroll already!
