Love Your Camera

I recently did a Love Your Camera workshop with Angie Baxter and I can't even begin to tell you about the journey I went on that Sunday. I've been trying to write the post for almost two weeks now and I'm still not sure if I'll be able to share what I learnt in just one post, but I'll try. First and foremost, Angie is really nice, I mean super nice. She's bubbly, friendly and totally approachable. She was in amongst the 'students' and got hands on with each of us, she didn't just stand ... [ Discover More ]

Celebrate!

I bought Handmade Home by Amanda Blake Soule last year and I loved the projects inside it, highly recommended. One thing I wanted to do was make a bunting flag, not for Aidan's room, but for his birthday party. The bunting could be used for 'all' my kids' birthdays and even for mine and Steve's, it would become a sort of heirloom and no birthday in our house would be complete without it.I had plenty of scraps left over from the baby quilt so I got cracking. I liked that the quilt and the bunting ... [ Discover More ]

Tower of Yummy

I wouldn't say I love pancakes, I don't might them but pan fried cake batter in the morning never really appealed to me. Maybe it's because I can't make nice ones, my sister can but mine never come out fluffy enough, they end up more like crepes.Every now and then I'll feel like them for afternoon tea so I'll buy a shaker bottle mix from the shops. Of course the Aldi one is nice and if I feel like whipping some up that's what I'll use but I saw a different one in Coles the other day and I just ... [ Discover More ]

Work it Baby

{image}Over the next few weeks I've signed myself up for a number of photography workshops, the first one is this Sunday and I am beyond excited! I've studied photography, I've studied business and my official title is Freelance Photographer but most of it was via correspondence and I just felt like I was a bit disconnected, I wanted some hands on help, I wanted to be with people who shared my passion. I wanted to check out their gear and see how they work. Most importantly I wanted a bit ... [ Discover More ]

Homemade is sweeter

I made my birthday cake as I do every year. It looked just like the one the Blythe Doll as 'eating' in the previous post. Lots of lovely silky cream and Strawberries. I got a little crazy and drew happy smiley faces on them. It looked cute and made me happy. I made my rich Betty Crocker devils food cake and layered it with cream, raspberry jam and a little chocolate frosting. Steve said he felt his arteries closing up just looking at it... then went ahead and ate two pieces. I got some camera ... [ Discover More ]

My Place & Yours

This weeks MPAY theme is What's on Your Fridge so I thought I'd show you mine. I only like to stick things onto the front of my freezer, I hate stuff on the fridge part. I bought a few magnetic photo paper bundles from Aldi last year and they're fantastic for the fridge. I'll start at the top left and work my way around...The first is a magnet from the Monet exhibition I went to last year. Next is a photo of Steve and I taken on webcam, I was pregnant. The teeny tiny love heart frame has a photo ... [ Discover More ]

Pimp my MacPro

When I got my Mac Book Pro I was so excited, I found myself typing away at the dining table while I watched Aidan play on the lounge room floor, I took it to my bedroom, I took it outside. I quickly realised my new purchase was going to need some form of protection. I wanted something pretty but practical and since I was ordering my new camera flash from Amazon, I also looked for a case.I snatched up a bargain silicon keyboard cover to protect it from dust and sticky fingers and found the most ... My Birthday

{image}Today is my 25th birthday and I'm planning to make a cake similar to the one in the picture. I don't know why but I've been obsessed with looking at dolls on Flickr this week, in case you hadn't noticed. Might have something to do with playing house and the fact that every birthday (including this one) I've longed for a doll house. I played with Barbies until I was 14 and got a boyfriend instead. Blythe dolls seem like the perfect step up, for women who let their inner girls go wild ... [ Discover More ]

NOVA 96.9

Merrick, Dools & Ricki-Lee have been infecting my radio lately and I've been listening to all the people earning some crazy cash for the blandest of advertising efforts so I thought I'd have a go. Besides, my washing machine is on it's way out and rego is due, couldn't hurt to try my luck.So I got busy on photoshop, knocked up a simple yet effective banner and embedded a link to the NOVA 96.9 page. Now, if you would be so kind, please click HERE, go to the page and rate my efforts 5 Stars. ... [ Discover More ]

Chicken Apple Meatballs

I bought this book when Aidan was younger and found it so informative and clever, I reference it all the time when it comes to Aidan's meals and learning about his nutritional needs. One of the recipes I've been keen for him to try was the Chicken & Apple Meatballs. Now that he's becoming more coordinated and feels confident enough to feed himself, the meatballs seemed perfect, food he can play with and eat. I mixed 500gms of chicken mince, one peeled grated apple (squeeze gratings in ... [ Discover More ]

Bouncy Babe

Sponsored by NuffnangI was given a Fisher-Price Precious Planet Playtime Bouncer to review last week and since I'd never bought Aidan a fancy bouncer I thought we'd give it a try. When I received the box I was surprised by how nice it looked and how quick it was to put together.Aidan climbed into it straight away and was happy to watch The Wiggles in comfort. Thankfully it has a removable toy bar so I could easily get him in and out of it, he's so tall now. The adjustable 3 point harness was ... [ Discover More ]

Hump Day

{image}This week I've had a lot of heart to heart's with Steve and we had a lovely night away in the city together with Aidan. It's been refreshing, heated, sensual, compassionate, frustrating and to be quite honest... sexy. I've been reminded of the boy I met way back when and in awe of the man I have now by my side. Having our intimate times together was never an issue before Aidan was born. I was actually petrified and called friends in a pregnant hormonal tizzy, seeking ... [ Discover More ]

I’ll hold your hand if you hold mine.

{image}I've wanted to blog all day. The words seem to be on the tip of my tongue but I can't spit them out. I'm going to try my best to put my feelings out there but I'm not sure I'll be successful. I had a huge range of photo filled posts planned for all of last week and then the house came on the market and all other thoughts went right out the window. All the witty words and pretty puns were wasted because my head was filled with picket fences and mortgage brokers. I still feel consumed ... [ Discover More ]

Dwelling

{image}They say it happens when you fall in love, when you get married and when you get pregnant. For me it happened once Aidan started walking. I don't know why but it did. All of a sudden I imagined him running about and banging into the walls of our small rental house. I wanted space and lots of it. I wanted something we could build on, to scratch our family's heights into the door frame, to make our home.On Friday nights Steve and I kick back and watch Escape to the Country and 60 ... Break Away

{image}This afternoon Steve and I are taking Aidan into the city for a little mini break. I know, I know, I just got back from visiting family but this is different. This is me and Steve getting a little air and taking little Aidan with us for an adventure, just the 3 of us. {image}Steve is taking Friday off work and tonight he's going to a concert, Petulant Frenzy at The Basement, he's a huge Frank Zappa fan. We'll go out to dinner first and then Aidan and I will make ourselves comfortable ... [ Discover More ]

Brrrrooom

This weekend I decided that I wanted to go to visit my mum so I packed up the baby and all his stuff, kissed hubby goodbye and went on my merry way. The drive itself took about an hour longer than usual but considering I was doing it solo and managed a few tea breaks in between we made good time. I borrowed the carseat toy from my friend and it was the best decision I made. I've done the trip to Nelsons Bay a few times with Aidan, mostly solo so I knew that I'd need some distractions for him and ... [ Discover More ]
