This weekend I decided that I wanted to go to visit my mum so I packed up the baby and all his stuff, kissed hubby goodbye and went on my merry way. The drive itself took about an hour longer than usual but considering I was doing it solo and managed a few tea breaks in between we made good time. I borrowed the carseat toy from my friend and it was the best decision I made. I’ve done the trip to Nelsons Bay a few times with Aidan, mostly solo so I knew that I’d need some distractions for him and this thing worked like a charm. It was also really handy that he’s now forward facing.
We drove straight to one of my mates houses and hung out with my 3 godkids and talked about their wedding plans and career changes, it was so nice as I’d missed them a lot. Aidan had a blast with the kids, I was worried about him being shy because they were all older but he chased them around the house, played peekaboo, chewed on all their books and laughed the entire time we were there. The kids loved him just as much and there were many kisses, cuddles and hair ruffles. These friends will be moving to my part of the world next year and I’m beyond excited that Aidan will be growing up with my extended family. My friend and I have known each other since we were in grade 3, it would be wonderful if our kids got the same oppertunity.
After all the fun and games I bundled Aidan back in the car and we were off to Mum and Dads house. Mum had spagetti ready for me when I got there and it was like a lovely plate of home. Aidan and my mum are best mates. Seriously, as soon as Aidan heard her voice he was all smiles and took to her like no time had passes. Its nice that they have such a bond. Aidan’s got a bit of a cough so last night was horrible but he seems a bit better now. I even contemplated going home but I’m toughing it out… on that note mum and I have a pile of DVDs to watch and a bag of twisties so I’m off… hope you had a great weekend, what did you get up to?
