Pretty Peepers

I've been working a lot on the computer lately, mostly at night and my eyes have been feeling the strain. Hubby was due for an eye test (he's blind as a bat) so I decided to make an appointment also. I went first and turns out I still have 20/20 vision. Damn, I can't buy cute specs. Aidan was at home with Grandma so while I was waiting for Steve to finish his eye exam I acted like a complete tool and tried on every single pair of glasses and took photos... just for you.I can't believe they make ... Me & My Toddler

My baby is no longer a baby... this is going to be hard to get used to. I've cried but smiled more. I've watched videos, flicked through photos and stolen as many cuddles as possible. These were taken on his birthday, I just couldn't help myself, we were having a lovely lunch and then all of a sudden I just started taking silly photos on photobooth.I play with my son at every opportunity, quite simply I adore him and he seems to think I'm not too bad either. I love watching him learn, it's one ... [ Discover More ]

Aidan’s 1st Birthday

My little baby turned one this week and it's thrown me a little. I swear that when he woke up on Wednesday morning even looked older, maybe it's all in my head but there is no denying he's a toddler now. The in-laws and my own family were traveling to us to celebrate his birthday with us so I wanted to throw a party but I didn't want to go too over the top and spend a lot of money, I just didn't feel it was necessary for a child so young, I also didn't want him to feel overwhelmed. I ... I don't think of myself as a winner, but sometimes I get quite lucky. I love Maeve Magazine and I'm working up the courage to submit an article I've been working on, I love it that much I want to be a part of it. In the very first issue they had a handful of giveaways and I entered each of them, I thought "why not?" and boy did I get lucky! I won an Ivory Resin Rose Ring by Mad Stitches and it's oh so beautiful. It arrived in the mail today and even though I'm still in my gym clothes, I'm ... [ Discover More ]

Suck it In

{image}I'm looking forward to summer, the sun is shining brighter and I know Aidan is just going to love the beach. I wish I could say I have been 100% committed to the gym so I had a rockin' bod to show off but I wasn't and I haven't. It seems that in winter kids catch colds and pass them on like wildfire, I didn't stand a chance. Even my gym buddy was thrown off her game. That said we have new found enthusiasm and a few months left to shift some blubber and work on our tans.1. Spotty ... [ Discover More ]

Today is Aidan's birthday. I've been laughing to much to cry about it, this kid leaves me in stitches. We spent some time this afternoon out on the front lawn soaking up some sun and giving each other cuddles. My sister snapped this shot, she's pretty good behind the lens. We kept his birthday celebrations pretty simple since we'd had such a big weekend. He opened one or two presents and had an afternoon tea with his best buddy Brock. I made a chocolate cake covered in strawberries and he ... [ Discover More ]

Kidspot’s Top 50 Blog Your Way To Dunk Island

At Edith Falls when I was 16When I was younger it seemed like I was always on holidays, most school breaks were spent under the stars tucked up in a swag. I grew up in the town of Katherine in the Northern Territory where being outdoors was all a part of the way of life... and I couldn't imagine a better way to grow up. Katherine is a small town (less than 10,000 residents) and I lived half an hour out of it. We had a local pool and I remember spending a lot of time in there, dunking my sister, ... Point & Shoot

This weekend we're celebrating Aidan's first birthday and all the family and in-laws have traveled to be here. I dragged everyone onto the front lawn for a little photo session. I got great ones of everyone with Aidan and Steve and I with our families but this one just makes me laugh. It's off center, heads are cut off and you can clearly see me using the camera remote... but we're all smiling (including Aidan) and we all look so happy. Steve noticed thankfully and adjusted the camera so I got ... [ Discover More ]

Cheese Please!

Sponsored by NuffnangAidan has been eating like an absolute champ, completely open to new tastes and textures. Lunchtime is my absolute favourite because this is when we go a little bit wild with finger foods. For breakfast he has cereal and a bottle, for dinner he has meat and vegetables but for lunch he mainly has dairy, fruit and biscuits. Bega was kind enough to send me a gift card to sample their kids range; Junior Natural Colby Cheese Sticks and Bega Cheddar Shapers Puzzlers.Aidan loves ... [ Discover More ]

Baby Club

A month or two ago I received a box in the mail, a lovely blue striped box. I was nice enough to let Aidan open it and even he let out shrieks and giggles in anticipation. I'd recently joined Kidspot Baby Club (run by the lovely Chantelle from FatMumSlim) and was told to expect the postman.Johnson's Baby supports Kidspot Baby Club and they'd sent me a huge box filled to the brim with lotions, washes, powders and wipes... they weren't sample sizes either! I bundled up a few sets and gave them to ... [ Discover More ]

17 is my favourite number. I was born on the 17 of the 7th. I usually get lucky with a number 17 raffle ticket. I was in operating room 7 when I had Aidan and was in room 17 on the maternity ward. I thought today, since it was day 17 in this little photo project, would be a good day to try and take a self portrait... I think I got pretty lucky. Aidan woke from his nap and needed some sunshine so he giggled in his swing whilst he watched me be silly in front of the camera. I love graphic ... [ Discover More ]

30 Days – Photo 16

Today I'm doing something super exciting, prepping the studio for a model who's coming by for a photo session tonight. I prefer to take photos in the daytime as natural light is so much nicer to work with but at least I'll get the chance to play with my new lighting equipment (finally!) and it's the only time the model was free. Steve will be home too so he can keep Aidan occupied and out from under my feet. I'm so nervous, I usually am before a shoot but I know that once I start taking pictures ... [ Discover More ]

My Place & Yours

This week's theme is "What was the last thing you bought yourself?" and this was quite easy as I only just bought these shoes yesterday. I'm not sure this photo does them justice, they're so great. I haven't worn heels in a very very long time, especially heels this high but I did last night and I did better than I thought I would. I wear Havianas all year long and if I'm in a bind and have to wear enclosed shoes I slip on a pair of volleys but it's nice to know I have some grown up shoes ... [ Discover More ]

Today was a big day. I had mothers group at my house in the morning so I spent the majority of it cleaning. Once everyone toddled off home I bundled Aidan up and went to do some errands as well as pick up my iPhone. By the time I got home it was 5pm and I was looking forward to passing the baby to Steve and chilling out for awhile. It was not to be. We had a work function that I completely forgot about that started at 6pm. By some feat we managed to all have showers, get changed, get all ... [ Discover More ]

Full Throttle

I decided I wanted to make my sister (my one & only) a cute handbag for her birthday. I could easily go out and buy her things or send her money but I knew that this year, with all the brave choices she's made lately, would appreciate a lovingly made gift more. She could cart it around with her when she made even more brave choices and know I love and support her, the bag would be a wearable hug. I chose her favourite colours and asked what style she'd like, "a normal sized handbag with a ... [ Discover More ]

Aidan was sleeping, I was taking some time out in the backyard after hanging out the washing. The light was nice and Toby & Charlie were happily playing about my feet. I looked down and captured Charlie's cute little face. I might not have been able to be outside as much as I would have liked the last 6 months or so but that hasn't changed how much I love my dogs. The fact that Aidan is getting older and that they've become more accustomed to each other means I'm in for an interesting few ... [ Discover More ]

Aidan and I broke out of the house to get some sunshine... and to raid the Op Shop. Ok, so I might have been doing something nice like dropping off two big bags stuffed full of clothes and toys that Aidan had outgrown, but it was mainly for the sunshine. Honest. I scored some vintage fabric for me and a friend as well as this super cute tiny aluminum saucepan with lid. It's the perfect size for Aidan and will go great with his play kitchen that I'll be making for his Christmas present... but ... [ Discover More ]

I had so many different things planned for today and I achieved none of them. Instead I've stayed in my pjs, tidied the studio in preparation for revamp, started painting some frames and spent most of the day talking to my Mum on Skype because I am onto my third week without a phone. Aidan is having some lunch and my Mum is watching on the laptop. I love that she loves him like I do and that every little thing is special. As soon as he sees her he always has a smile on his face... what a great ... [ Discover More ]

Adventure Awaits

{image}I saw this Duplo set in BigW the other week and I laughed out loud. The little figures look just like Steve, Aidan and I and the fact that they're towing a caravan is just the coolest. Without a doubt this will be on Santa's shopping list next year. Steve and I are buying a caravan, well it's actually a camper trailer and we're so excited. We're hoping to pick it up on Friday and we're already planning at least three big trips in the next six months. First trip will be to Coffs Harbour ... [ Discover More ]

Photos are so deceptive sometimes, this one makes my kitchen sink look lovely... but it's not, it's a terrible evil place. It's always full of Tupperware or bottles. I get stuck standing there for ages and it always seems to be when Aidan's having his nap and I could be doing something more interesting like sleep or read the magazines that are STILL waiting to be read. I've taken to putting pretty things on my window still like my stacking doll measuring cups, a sugar rose from Aidan's baby ... [ Discover More ]
