We had this conversation two weeks ago. That Sunday we drove down to Bunnings to get sand for Aidan’s new sandpit and the Ford/Kia dealership was next door so we thought we’d take a look at the Ford Territory we’d heard so much about. Turns out it didn’t suit us at all, maybe in 10 years time we’d be ready for a big vehicle like that but right now we realised we needed something smaller. We drifted over to the Kia side and was instantly attracted to The All New Sportage. We talked about the car all the way home and well into the next week.
We trolled the internet comparing the deal to other cars. We never planned on buying a Kia, it never crossed our minds, we were focused on Ford and Nissan. The Sportage was a very happy surprise. We tempted fate last Sunday and took it for a test drive. It was dreamy to drive and fit me like a glove which was important since I do 99% of the driving. We bought it that afternoon.
The car has so many gadgets I’m still learning what they’re all for. I call it my swagger wagon. I’m glad that we didn’t buy another sedan, I hated driving like I was laying down. I grew up driving 4WDs and sitting upright in the new car is so much better for my back, not to mention driver visibility.
The car is an ex demo having only done 400kms with black leather seats, dark tinted windows, heavy duty tow bar and sunroof. I didn’t realise how much I would love having a sunroof. I just thought it was one of those flashy features that didn’t really make an impact. Man, how I was wrong. I never use the aircon and I love the extra light, Aidan likes it too.
One of the added perks of the new car is how easy it’s become to get Aidan in and out. Because the car is higher, it’s much nicer on my back and I think Aidan likes the view better too. His car seat (Meridian Convertible) came with a seat protector which is great for the leather, it looks great in the new car too.
We both needed new key rings so I got two caribou clips with tags that I engraved with our nicknames… I thought it was sweet and I think Steve did too, he’s not the gushy type.
So here’s the new car in all it’s shiny silver glory. We’re totally in love with it and have driven it every day, just because we can. We went Aldi shopping last night and got the new catalogue for next week. filled with.. camping gear! The Aldi gods really do smile on us. We’d already made a list of all the camping stuff we’d need and now we’ll be saving almost 50%. I guess the timing was right for a new car after all.
