Are You Satisfied?

Time to get reflective, maybe set a few goals as well... don't you think? I'm not one for New Years resolutions, I'm too flippant. I do like looking back, remembering the choices that lead me to where I am, thinking on the lessons I've learnt, that sort of thing. The last six months have been monumental. I sucked it up and got serious about my dreams and goals and it paid off so I couldn't be happier. Sure, it's a lot of hard work and I've hit breaking points, reevaluated relationships and done ... Ruffles & Bows GIVEAWAY

Yesterday I did a few things to perk myself up a bit. I've been working a lot but it seems that as soon as the money comes in, it goes straight back out again. It's left me slightly frustrated. I usually get my hair done every two months and the odd pedicure, it's what Steve and I worked out together and even managed to keep the routine after having Aidan. Steve said I shouldn't feel like I had to sacrifice something that made me feel so happy. Gosh my guy is thoughtful... but he's also the same ... [ Discover More ]

Curbside Cool

Steve and I were driving home the other day and I just happened to glace out the window down a side street and saw this out on the curb along with a lot of other faded broken outdoor toys. Like a possessed woman, I made Steve do an emergency U-Turn and shoved this sucker into the back of the car. I might be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Steve slunk into the drivers seat slightly and may have covered his face with one hand. It was covered in cobwebs, spiders and ants... to put it plainly is ... Christmas at Our Place

So... um, I wasn't really feeling the Christmas spirit this year. Sure, I was still giving, donating and appreciating my family's good health and fortune but I wasn't as into as I've been in previous years. I usually go over the top with decorations, planning the menu weeks or even months in advance, even personalising my gift wrap... but this year, I just wasn't into it. The gifts were limited and simple, we had a tiny tree, nachos for lunch and had a roast lamb for dinner. I think because ... [ Discover More ]

Big Boy Bed

*sigh* I love my new camera, I can take photos in pitch black now!You might remember I went through another of my shopping obsessions back in the middle of the year about toddler beds, the pros and cons, should we just take the rail of the cot blah blah blah. Well I bit the bullet months ago and put a toddler bed, mattress and baby gate on layby... which had to be finalised this week.I knew it was coming, the pile of payment receipts shoved into my wallet reminded me, so for the last week or so ... Changeroom Confessions

I'd adore it if you stopped by the City Chic Blog and left me some supportive comments. I've been busy getting my fashion-on lately and there are lots of photos of me acting like an amateur model, prancing around the change rooms in my knickers... if nothing else it's worth a giggle. ... Family Time

"Dad, you're awesome!"I've been trying to lay low the last couple of days and really invest in more family time on top of all the pre-christmas craziness. It's just going to be the three of us this year and I while I know I'll really miss my family on the day, I'm quite thankful for a stress free holiday period. "mum, I'll drink the bath water if I want to... just try and stop me!"We've been playing... a lot. I've been toting the camera everywhere, playing with settings and just ... [ Discover More ]

OMG Shoes

As I mentioned earlier, I like to obsess over little unimportant things... like bags and shoes. I rarely buy them so when I do I have trouble justifying the purchase and really over think it. I'd been searching for a pair of size 10 Vivid Blue Low Rise Converse sneakers for aaaaaaaaages. Steve never wanted to hear the word Converse ever again but last week as the family was pouring over piles of Christmas junk mail I found them... and they were buy one pair get one free!!Converse had ... Kelly Moore Camera Bags

I've been obsessing over bags, camera bags to be precise and they're worth a pretty penny. With the D80 I just used a black canvas satchel I got from Aldi of all places. I had a great expensive one but never used it but now I have the very expensive D700 I need to protect it, it's my business. I think all up I'm looking at around $1000 to cover different situations and ultimately protect my gear which is worth a heck of a lot more. I fell in love with Kelly Moore's range of bags but I wanted to ... [ Discover More ]

Somebodies Junk…

... is always somebody's treasure. I thought I'd share a few pieces from my op shop bounty I've sourced over the last couple of weeks. Op shopping has become time out for me, and Aidan. When we're having an off day I'll pop him into the pram and we'll go for a walk to check out the goodies. Aidan always finds books... I love that.I love coloured retro glass like this, the colours make me happy and make the house glow. I also love old jars so it's win-win. Steve doesn't quite get it but always ... Great Grandson

Last night my grandparents dropped in for a short visit whilst traveling. We sat around the table, had a roast chicken dinner and shared stories... Aidan told a few of his own as well. We're not going to be spending Christmas with family this year as they all have busy schedules (runs in the blood?) so it was really nice to get a chance to just be together.Aidan is the first great grandson on my dad's side of the family and even though we don't get to see my Grandparents often, when we do, it's ... In the Tub

I've been trying to practice and get used to my awesome new camera and lens as much as possible. Aidan had been playing outside all afternoon and was in dire need of a bath so I took the opportunity to do both. The light was lovely, I just couldn't resist. When I looked at photography sites and saw children with these amazingly detailed eyes I thought they were just heavily photoshopped... turns out they just had brilliant gear. Thankfully Aidan didn't mind me getting in his face as he was ... [ Discover More ]

2011 Blog Meets

{image} Ok ladies, this is all very exciting! Please understand that this is all still in the design phase, I'm just gathering information, sourcing locations and special goodies to give away to those that attend. If you thought the recent blog meet in Parramatta looked enticing, wait until you see what I have planned. The reason I wanted to organise meets was not because I thought I was "the-shit", or "all-that" but because I honestly believe I don't fit in a themed category and that it might ... Reinvigorate, Revamp

I'm feeling stifled by my studio, does that ever happen to you? If your workspace doesn't reflect your style, the creative juices just don't flow and the clutter (ahem, I mean "storage") starts to build up and it just becomes to distracting to work/create there... well that's where my studio is at at the moment. I'm too embarrassed to even take a photo. We rent a three bedroom home: our room, Aidan's room and the Studio which also acts as a guestroom. We did have a lovely queen slat bed in ... GIVEAWAY – Harmony to my Heartbeat

A few weeks ago I decided I needed a night off from blogging and the photography business and just have some downtime on my own. So I drove up the mountain to Katoomba and went to the Sally Seltmann concert at The Clarendon Guesthouse and I didn't take my camera. I did it on purpose because I really wanted to just sit back and enjoy the show as I tend to want to share everything I do with you guys... well I was kicking myself majorly when I arrived to find the venue was so intimate that I was ... It's a stinker today so the boy and I are taking it easy... well he is, I'm sitting on that chair researching and emailing people back like a crazy person. Life from the Couch

This is what I've been trying to do a lot of lately. I've got woman's troubles baaaaaaad but I'm just not up to talking about it which is why a lot of my deep and meaningful posts have been absent lately. I will fill you all in as I believe speaking aloud about Endometriosis is a good thing, but just this minute I'm just not mentally or physically up to it. You can imagine me here, curled up with my laptop, with my heat pack, listening to Washington and wishing that Old Spice Man would make me ... [ Discover More ]

Flying Far & Wide *edited*

{photo of me by Anna Todd at Scoop Workshop}Since launching Danimezza Photography I've had lots of readers emailing me, asking if I'll be traveling interstate to do photo sessions. At first I thought it would be impossible as the extra expense (travel, car rental, accommodation etc) would have to be covered by the client... but then I got thinking, maybe I could announce a 2011 Melbourne and Brisbane date well in advance and interstate blog readers could book a time slot? Not only would I ... [ Discover More ]
