I bought this dress from Best & Less, it’s in the Lily & Lou range, I bought it on clearance for a few dollars. I really liked the floral pattern and the ultra light cotton fabric was so soft. The large scoop neckline is flattering on me and I even loved the sleeves but after wearing it as a dress for 30 minutes the dress lost it’s shape and turned into a dreaded muumuu. I tried wearing it with a belt but it still looked saggy and I just ended up wearing it around the house. I decided to experiment and tucked the dress into my jeans. I loved it even more as a top so I grabbed the scissors, quickly hacked off the bottom and this is the result…
I love it so much more and it’s really really light, perfect for summer too. I need t’shirts, basic ones with great shape and durability, I just can’t seem to find them. They are out there but they’ve just been covered in lace cutoffs, beads, sequins and bold, stupid typography which will become outdated before the season is even over. Sorry, rant over.
This is what I wore to the gynecologist in case you were wondering. I wanted to look the way I felt… good. As I was leaving I jumped on the scales, when I started trying to loose weight I was 133.6kgs and he told me I now weigh 120.2kgs which means I’ve lost 13.4kgs in 12 weeks! My first goal is 100kgs and I’m already more that one third of the way there. I was so elated, I walked out of his office on air.
Steve’s noticed the changes too, he said my tummy is flatter and my face has more definition but he’s glad my butt hasn’t changed too much… that makes one of us! These are my favourite jeans, “Wideleg” by City Chic. I don’t think they’re available online anymore but you can still find them in stores. I love the retro pockets, the colour and large hems. I originally bought a size 20 but had to buy a size 18 only a few weeks later. When I slip them on they perk me up, even if I’m having a crap day. Jeans like that are priceless.
To keep the look ultra casual I wore my favourite almost-worn-down-to-paper-thin-rubber black slim Havaiana’s and my hair worn down, all natural and wildly curly… with a few Redken products thrown in to make sure it didn’t turn into a birds nest! I’m toting a gifted vintage, white clutch that fits so much stuff in it it’s not funny. I’m also wearing my Danimezza necklace, my silver bow necklace (worn long) and my mothers old marcasite & shell bracelet… shhh don’t tell her I have it!
