Today I’m doing something completely exciting with just a pinch of mind blowing… I’m interviewing Gok Wan!!! Of course this meant pouring through my wardrobe trying to find just the right thing to wear. I wanted something trendy but not something that looked like it was pulled straight from a catalogue and I wanted to show off my playful side and individuality.
First impressions always count, even more so when you’re meeting a man who restyles women of all sizes who dress poorly for their figure. I didn’t want him to think whilst shaking my hand… “PROJECT!” although I will admit it would be a super fun day, hanging out and discussing the finer points of my boobs and bum and how best to dress them.
Life seems pretty crazy at the moment… this time last year I could never have predicted what I’d be up to! It’s been difficult juggling all the different aspects of my life but I’m lucky to have a great support network. Steve is my rock. Some days are bad, others are golden so the control freak within me is slowly (very slowly) learning how to ride the waves and go with the flow.
Ahem, back to the topic on hand… I want to not just appear, but to actually be confident during the interview. To ask him about the motivations behind his career choices and praise him for his social awareness work on the topic of self esteem. Educating women, both young and old generations to take pride in themselves and “Love what you’ve got!“
I love my curves but that’s not to say that I believe being morbidly obese is ok because it’s not, in my opinion it sucks… but that doesn’t mean I can’t try my best to look and feel good whilst I lose the weight. So far I’ve lost a few kilos and I’m proud of myself. I still see areas I will improve on but it doesn’t keep me awake at night because I know that every morning when I wake up I can walk to my closet and slip into something fabulous, something that doesn’t make me feel like a fat cow when I wear it.
Basically, later today I’ll be having a chat with someone who shares the same fashion values as I do. Someone who has touched so many lives and changed so many wardrobes… I can’t wait, wish me luck!
