As I mentioned yesterday, I’m extremely excited to be listed yet again in the Top 50 Bloggers by Kidspot, it’s always such a thrill to be recognised by your peers. In honour of the nominees Kidspot hosted a little cocktail party at Tom Dunne Gallery in Darlinghurst last night and almost all the ladies on the list were in attendance. Unfortunately my BFF who is also nominated couldn’t attend but I tweeted for her!
City Chic gave me this wonderful outfit to wear last night, I styled it myself pulling together some new and older pieces. The Rosey Posey Dress is fitted perfectly for my shape and the pattern is so beautiful, Steve said it’s his favourite on me so far. The Sexy Feline Cardi is so soft and luxe… and just a tad over the top but it was a cocktail party at an art gallery! I wore Full Length Black Leggings paired with the most beautiful pair of boots because it was absolutely freezing. The belt isn’t the one that came with the dress but it is by City Chic (just from a fair few seasons ago) I like the way it matches the buckles on the boots. I kept the jewellery simple and painted my nails a rich berry shade. I also wore the cutest pair of leather gloves which were $12 from Coles of all places, I was so surprised they fit my man-hands.
Alex, Editor of Kidspot opened up the evening with a few toasts and a few words from Ford, the official sponsor of the Top 50 Bloggers 2011 Competition. I loved Alex’s whole look, I thought she looked absolutely amazing.
Liss from Frills in the Hills, winner of the Top 50 Bloggers 2010 made a beautiful speech and from standing at the back I could see it all touched a nerve with everyone there as they turned to each other and nodded. It was about staying true to yourself, not losing sight of who you are and to do what makes you happy. To forget any feelings of competitiveness and just embrace and support the community which is thriving.
Media whore and Author Kerri Sackville gave us an insight into her fairy tale life and wasn’t afraid to share the tarnished bits either. If you want to know more you’ll have to read the book. This lady is totally ballsy and a lot of fun, I spent most of the night with her as we just seem to click.
Lori spoke so casually and in such a heart felt way that it lead one of the nominees to tears. Lori is who she is and she owns it, not all of us can do that so it’s very inspiring. By this stage everyone was starting to relax and mingle so I put down my camera so I couldn’t shy away behind it, took a deep breath and chatted to people who I already feel like I know so much about.
I also took the chance to buy a copy of Kerri’s book and get her to sign it for me. I wont tell you what she wrote… that’s something intimate between us *wink* but what I will say is that she has inspired me.
After all the fun and fluff upstairs we were ushered down to see the car… the car one of us might win (for a year) so we all squished in together and draped ourselves over it. Chantelle took this photo on my camera, I love how happy I look and that no one is shying away from the camera… typical bloggers.
After everyone had refilled their glasses and headed back upstairs I hung around to take some photos of the car but Mrs Woog and Lori got up to some mischief…
Talk about pimping their brands! We all rolled about with laughter, even the Ford rep thought it was hilarious. It’s the New Ford Territory, only released this month, everyone fell in love with it.
Picture Magazine eat your heart out! I sooooo wish I could have been in this photo instead of taking it…
… instead I had a photo taken where I look like I’m being hit by it!
Handing over control of my camera to someone else is difficult, just like I’m sure it would (hypothetically, you know, if I won…) be difficult for me to hand the keys to this baby over to Steve every once and a while.
For a car it has very pretty eyes… do you see faces in cars or is that just me?
The New Ford Territory was totally kitted out with soft leather interiors, DVD player, reversing camera, SatNav and a huge range of other nifty features like a handbag hook and packed to the wahzoo with gadgets and gizmos. Who wouldn’t want to drive around in pampered luxury for a year!
A goofy shot by Chantelle of me doing my thing. The Ford Territory was one of the cars we picked when we were shopping for our new one but we just couldn’t afford it…
… so the idea of driving this bad boy around for free for a whole year is pretty enticing!
Thanks again to Ford, Kidspot and all the other lovely nominees for a great night. For those on the Top 50 Bloggers list who couldn’t attend, we know you were there with us in spirit. To everyone one of my readers thank you again for the nomination and if you could please pop on over and give your favourite bloggers one quick click we’d all really appreciate it.
