One of my favourite places to go for dinner in Townsville is “Cactus Jacks” an amazing mexican restaurant with atmosphere, great food and lethal amounts of my favourite beverage… tequila.
I just had one drink whilst sharing a meal with a few good friends. It was really lovely to get together, get dressed up and dig in.
Mexican is one of Aidan’s favourite types of food. Cheese, spicy meat, capsicum, grilled onions, salsa and guacamole… it’s his thing! If you even think about stealing from his plate there will hell to pay.
My sister Stephanie, her boyfriend Josh and Steph’s ex-housemate Kat were there…
… as were Natalie and little Alex.
I looooove fajitas. The way the meat and vegies come out on a sizzling hot plate, all ready to be wrapped up in soft delicious bread and dipped in a tasty trio of guacamole, sour cream and salsa…. yum!
I’m surprised my sister didn’t kill me whilst we were staying with her. I constantly had to remind myself that I didn’t need to look after her (even though I did clean her place) and she was a big girl now and I didn’t necessarily know what was best for her, she’s already going a great job all on her own… but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to worry, after all worrying is something I seem to be good at. It’s a big sister trait you don’t ever grow out of.
I’ve known Natalie for a decade. We grew up living two houses away from each other. We went to the same high school. We got drunk at the same parties. We had sleepovers. I was there when Alex was born. We’re not as close as we once were but it was lovely to see her again and see how much Alex has grown.
Kat is apparently a big fan of my blog. Stephanie showed her a couple of times when they were living together and now she reads everyday (awww shucks) but Steph found it weirdly hilarious that when they spoke about Aidan and I, Kat was more up to date on the gossip that she was. Love it!
