Traveling to Townsville

by Danimezza on May 25, 2011

Last year I got some awesomely priced flights to Townsville and planned a mini holiday for just Aidan and I. He was only 1 at the time and I smugly thought to myself that he’d been the perfect little traveller  so he’d continue to be one a year later… right? Well for the most part I was right but Aidan and I don’t live out of each others pockets so to be in each others faces without room to roam for such a long period of time was rough on both of us.
After reading A Lion in the Night for the millionth time we arrived in Townsville cranky and both wanting a nap. A few cuddles with my sister “Auntie Stephie” and we were out like a light. Aidan took to her instantaniously even though he hasn’t spent much time with her. I only have one sibling and Stephanie is 3 years younger and we look terribly alike, we both love and hate it.
While he slept we spent our time together as sisters should. Gossiping, bitching and painting our nails. I’d scored some awesome Orly polishes from the event last week and gave them to Steph as they were some of her favourite shades.
So while the baby napped we polished our paws and I took as many photos of her as I could. I think she’s beautiful. I want her to move down here to Sydney but apparently I’m being selfish. Who knew people wouldn’t want to leave gorgeous tropical Queensland!
My sister and I butt heads a lot. We both like to be right… all the time. We both have short fuses and we mumble… badly. We weren’t close growing up, I constantly pushed her away and when I’d grown up enough to know better, she pushed me away. Now we’re both in our 20′s the hormones seem to have calmed and we get along really well… except we still both like to be right.
This is Stephanie’s crap nail polish application that had me rolling on the floor with laughter which of course woke the baby who was napping on the couch but come on, that’s just terrible! Only moments before she’d told me off for not doing a good enough job… Pot/Kettle darling!
Orly had sent me “Fowl Play” a gorgeous purple sparkle polish from their “Birds of a Feather” Limited Edition Collection (RRP $18) due on shelves in June. Steph was pretty excited to get her hands on something before it’s even available on shelves in Australia. She made sure to inform me that she’s happy to test out any others I get sent… I told her she’d have to perfect her application skills first!
The other polish is called “La Playa” and goes on like a midnight blue, my toes have never been so sexy. Stephanie even got complimented on her nails at the petrol station when she later went to fill up the car, she was pretty chuffed.

With all the giggles and rolling about on the floor Aidan woke up. This is “Baby/Teddy” a soft old teddy bear of Stephanie’s that Aidan adopted. He wouldn’t put a nappy on but he helped me put one on Teddy instead, it made my ovaries ache. He carted that Teddy about all week, patting it’s back, putting it to bed and giving it drinks. Teddy didn’t come home with us even though my sister offered but now I kind of wish he did.

I have a lot of photos to share of our trip so keep an eye out for an influx of posts to make up for my time spent offline soaking up the sunshine and sisterly love.

In that first one, your sister kind of has an Anne Hathaway thing going on… and how gorgeous is your son, with his surly little face!

Do you still use the cloth nappies? Or have you switched to disposable?
Just wondering what you've found easier after all this time as I'm pregnant at the moment and need to think about these things!!
