Just incase you missed it… PART ONE
After spending most of the afternoon inspecting every inch of our stunning three bedroom apartment at Q1, we got all dressed up and headed down the ultra fast elevator to Hanazono Teppanyaki Restaurant. It has a really great feel to it with large communal tables as well a few private tables for parties like ours.
Before we start talking about the yummy food we really have to touch on a few important factors like booze and frocks! Hanazono is currently BYO so a few of us wandered over to the bottle-o next door and came back with lots of wine and bubbles… oh how I love my bubbles.
Suger and I swapped outfits for the night (body-double… YES!!!) and I borrowed a dress I’d been coveting for awhile from ASOS, if felt so pretty to wear but I really I need a scoop or v-neck, my boobs look weird. I wore my Amanda shoes, my City Chic belt and my “Love” necklace. Dani looked super cute in her op shop bargain dress, one of her favourite cardigans from Target, a necklace I bought her from Lovisa, tights and her beloved button boots.
Everyone started to arrive and we were served a light salad and soup, personally I wasn’t a fan… I was holding out for the main meal, the big show! I’m a Teppanyaki virgin and a lot of the attendees were so it was bound to be an interesting evening.
This is Mark and I have to give him props for being the only dude at the event, he fit in seamlessly and I don’t think I heard him grumble once. He’s got such a positive outlook on life and is starting up a few blogs with a psychology focus. Mark wants to be a life coach – “I want to work with people who are already in a good place but still need guidance and support to reach the next level“. Yep that’s a direct quote and I remember it because he spoke from his heart. Love that.
Suger loved the tomatoes apparently… and my Blue Velvet Dress!
I didn’t catch the name of “Teppanyaki Guy”, I may have been a bit distracted opening champagne bottles but isn’t he a total cutie! He was so lively and entertaining, always cracking jokes and throwing food at us… I’m not kidding!
A signal that the show/meal had begun…
While the hot plate got sizzling we were all involved in a few party tricks involving raw egg. There was serious potential that things could go wrong, very wrong… I mean come on, look at Hayley‘s face, she’s petrified! Which of course to the rest of us was completely hilarious.
Next up was Suger, lets just say it didn’t end well…
… splat!
The chef did a few crazy moves, kind of like this…
… crazy cool stuff.
I wish I had taken video but I used my DSLR instead… only have two hands! I borrowed this clip of YouTube!
The food smelt so good and he’d hardly even started, you couldn’t help but watch with your mouth watering.
With grilled zucchini and onion on our plates to nibble on chef made an epic amount of fried rice in a really short amount of time. He spread egg in a long line then gently rolled up the omelette and chopped the crap out of it… flinging bits of egg at Hayley and Tara whilst giggling.
Then we each had to catch larger bits of omelette in our mouths as it was flung from a large spatula. I can’t even begin to express how immensely entertaining this was. I was laughing through tears. I love this shot of Tabitha, cracks me up.
Sure we were all having a lot of fun but there was a lot of blog talk, wouldn’t be a great blog meet without it right!
The prawns were so delicious that this photo is making me hungry.
Hanazono was perfect for our meet, just the right number of people and the round tables meant we could still talk to others across from us. We were all fed at exactly the same time and the meal wasn’t dragged out for too long either.
Hello Blogger Events secured a great discount on one of their packages with mains consisting of prawns, chicken and beef. It just made the evening really affordable and thats what HBE aims to do, get bloggers together on any budget.
Too sweet!
Less talking and more eating ensued after that, people started shifting chairs and having smaller conversations. We talked about instagram, evernote, wordpress vs blogger, camera gear, how addictive twitter is and should we be taking klout so seriously.
Dani and I love hosting parties through Hello Blogger Events, after all thats how it all started. What really takes the cake is when everything you plan in your head and on paper comes into fruition and it’s exceedingly better than you anticipated.
Awesome bloggers left to right: Tabitha, Mark, Tara, Beck, Zoe, Danielle, Danimezza, Hayley, Suger, Naomi, Katrina, Stacey
You want more… well stay tuned for PART THREE where we stay up super late, drink more, pose for photos on the balcony and eat way to many delicious brownies.

I love Hanazono – the food there is beautiful. We often go there on a girls night out as the food is cheap and tastes great. It looks like you had a great time!
Sounds like I missed out! And I think the dress looks fantastic! :D
Your hair is FAB!!! I love it!
XXX
It looked awesome, I wish I'd gone (stoopid all day morning sickness). Glad you girls had a fab time on the GC!
Haha. Great post. I cannot wait for part three. Will there be a four? {A morning after post…}
I think the dress could easily be cut into a V neck, with some skills. But seriously, it didn't look weird. AT ALL.
Looks AWESOME!
