On Tuesday morning I was invited to attend an event for Nivea Sun at the Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic Fitness Centre in the CBD, I wish I could say it was a gloriously sunny day spent by the pool but the rain came in dribs and drabs. Never the less everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and everything looked so gorgeous.
We were there to learn about Nivea’s “Nivea Sun” sunscreen range and everyone from bloggers to beauty editors and journalists were there to try the products and explore the range. My personal favourite is the one to the right, Nivea Sun Light Feel Lotion. Fragrance is very subtle and there is no greasy texture, I’d pop it on under my make up to be honest.
Aidan was invited to the event but as it collided with a hectic schedule in the afternoon at Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival I decided to leave him at home with his Dad. Other kids came along for a splash, they were all so cute.
Even Tina Gray was there with her family. I took this sneaky snap of them talking to Hayley Lewis, the Ambassador of Swim Australia of which Nivea Sun is a partner… a match made in heaven in my opinion.
Nivea spoke about the range, why they felt there was a need for each product within the market and asked us for feedback. We discussed the benefits of including sunscreen into your daily beauty routine and what kind of effects you can expect in the future if you don’t.
Those journalists were pretty savvy with their questions, talking about ingredients and compounds… it all got a bit over my head so I took pretty pictures instead. It was nice knowing that the team at Nivea had someone on hand to answer all those questions.
Do you know what I love most about attending these types of events, I get to meet the people behind the brands. The people who pour their every working minute into turning, essentially an idea, into a product and nurturing a brand they believe in. Some people find these informational talks boring but I don’t. I enjoy being surrounded by those who are inspired by and love what they do.
Hayley was so relaxed and shared bit about her life with us and spoke about her involvement with Swim Australia. She is so passionate about teaching kids to swim and making parents across Australia more aware of the preventable dangers surrounding accidental drownings.
It’s not everyday you get to hear an Olympic Swimmer like Hayley tell her stories so everyone was glued. It was at that moment I wished I’d thrown caution to the wind and dragged Steve and Aidan in with me…
… I also wished I’d remembered to take a photo of Hayley and I together but I was so enthralled in her talk I lost track of time and was almost late to the Myer Big Is Beautiful runway show at Town Hall… but more on that soon! Thank you Nivea for inviting me to a lovely morning tea and for teaching me more in depth information about sunscreen, you can bet the Mezza’s will be slathered up this summer!
Nivea kindly sent me home with two goodie bags, one for me and one for you guys at home! To win all you have to do is leave a comment on this post, too easy!

Ohhhhh i wish my blog was so popular that i got invited to things like this!!!

I love their products too and agree the light feel would suit me to a t :)
I was invited but wasn't able to go and now I'm even more devo because I would have been able to meet you!!!
As a pale skinned lass, I've always been sun safe. After a terrible sunburn when I was 10 (still with the scars to prove it) I understand the importance of a good sun care regime. What a fantastic idea, and I'm so happy people are paying attentionnto the sun safe message. Ps. Hayley Lewis looks super smart/chic with glasses on! Who knew?!
Scottish ancestry here. Enough said!
Not entering your giveaway but just wanted to say thanks for the great photo and linking me in your post. I agree, it was definitely informative and Hayley was inspirational. :)
Hi Dani. Thanks for coming – shame the boys couldn't join you! Pictures are amazing as always.
I didn't realise Nivea did a sun care range! Thank you for enlightening me, will check it out xx
Oooh these Nivea products look so bright and happy from the packaging haha… the Light Feel Lotion sounds fantastic!
Oooh, pick me, pick me! The light sounds great :)
I know all jobs have their downsides but yours looks like loads of fun sometimes! Sun is my enemy in summer… Lily white skin and freckles!! I love sunscreen.
Two very important messages, wear sunscreen and teach your kids to swim!!!
I love it, great post as always :-)

Sun care is extremely important in our house. Sounded like a Fun Informative event
Oh that light sunscreen sounds awesome! We go through buckets of the stuff here, all four of us are very light skinned.
this post makes me excited, cause it means summer's coming (finally)! yay!
Oooh yes the weather is certainly reminding me to wear sunscreen at the moment! That light feel one sounds good- I always find sunscreen so greasy to wear on my already prone to oily skin! :-)
I HATE the feel of suncream, to the point that I would avoid outdoor activities, so that I dont have to put it on. But perhaps Nivea have found the answer for me … cant wait to try it.
Bring on summer!!!
What a shame it was a rainy day- it looked like so much planning went into it and it was really pretty. Hayley Lewis looks like a school teacher, teehee and I love, LOVE, *LOVE* that outfit worn by the other lady- the black and white dress with the cardi/jacket and thin belt— uhh, so gorgeous!!
I'd love to win this comp so I can try the kids sunscreen on Miss 4 without having to waste a bottle- she's allergic to most sunscreens but also so white she glows =o\ My family (me, mum and grandma) has always used Nivea products and never reacted at all so I'd like to think there's a chance Miss 4 won't react to these ones.
Looks good to me. I've never tried their sunscreens but I like some of their other products so I might have to give it a go.
Thanks for sharing x
Would love to try them! my kids have already sprouted a few freckles (18mths and 3.5yrs!)
Sounds great my daughter is very pale and I would love to win some Sunscreen.
Love your photos – I always love to check them out when I didn't go to an event, you really manage to make us feel like we were there!
Hayley Lewis is just gorgeous.
We have a pool so with 3 kids we go through quite a bit of sunscreen each summer.
This would be a fab prize to win.
What a great opportunity! Thank you for a lovely giveaway, I use Nivea moisturisers but haven't had a chance to try their sunscreens before :)
