It’s a stone throw away from the city, I walked there from Town Hall after a spot of window shopping. It has a very french provincial theme to it with rustic touches, sensuous textiles and a herb enriched aroma. Needless to say I want to go back.
There were so many trinkets and features I wanted to photograph but I was there to look at shoes. Seriously, if you’re looking for the next cool place in Sydney go here.
I felt just a little overwhelmed as I gazed over the name tags as I arrived, fashion editors from leading women’s magazines were there, David Jones big shots were there (they stock Naturalizer shoes) as well as executives from overseas.
I felt a bit like a teeny tiny fish in a very small bowl. Thankfully the PR girls were just as lovely in person as they are via email. There were two other bloggers attending but I never got to chat to them and have no idea what their blogs are called. Next time I’ll be more forthright and remember that not all bloggers have business cards to help break the ice.
Ohhh pretties! After all I was invited to check out the shoes not the venue. Naturalizer is based in the US so they’re launching the new collections for Fall & Winter 2012 and I can honestly say they’re delicious but before I go into more detail it’s time to talk about lunch.
One of the many cool features about Food Society was the large glass wall which looks directly into the kitchen. The owners ran a highly successful catering business and decided to open a restaurant. I love watching people cook.
The effort PR companies go to to make an event shine like this one simply amazes me. I loved every little detail, even down to the rustic flower arrangements and the glossy sourdough rolls with soft creamy butter.
After lunch it was time to talk about the shoes. This is when I sincerely started to miss the 70-200mm 2.8 lens Tamron lent me for a few weeks. So rather than close ups from me you can check all the shoes out on the website here or you can see a few of my favourites below…
After the models had done their thing we were invited to try on shoes and take a pair home with us! Unfortunately my giant feet didn’t fit any of the sizes they had available so I have a delightful pair of black bow slingbacks on order, I can’t wait until they arrive.
I consoled myself with a delightful chocolate raspberry treat… or two.
I’m wearing my high waited City Chic jeans, City Chic Raspberry Cami, Crossroads Striped Jersey Blazer, Peeptoe Necklace and my brand new bargain beaded flats from Rubi Shoes. Naturalizer made sure we didn’t leave empty handed with a goodie bag filled with a stainless steel drink bottle, notebook, media kit and a delicious vanilla cream cupcake for the trip home.
After the event I trundled back into the city for a bit of shopping and then called for my driver to come and pick me up and go home. The PR girls pulled some strings and managed to get me my very first cabcharge and it was like gold, the whole experience was made so relaxing by not having to drive or do the long cramped train ride, so much so that I even had a nap on the way home… bliss.
