I’ve been wanting to take a family Christmas photo for weeks and it just never happened and I can’t say that the end result of todays’ efforts was what I was going for but it’s close enough. A wireless remote for my Nikon D700 is $400 so I cracked out my Nikon D80 and it’s $17 remote and I can definitely see the difference in quality… but a photo of my family is all I really needed in the end. This is the one Steve picked to grace our totally late Christmas Cards which I’ll be sending out to family in the new year.
As for our outfits they weren’t planned… they probably should have been, we’re totally clash-tastic. Aidan wore his “favourite” everything, shirt/belt/shorts/hat/shoes all recent purchases from Charlie & Me Kids oh, and his rainbow socks as well. Steve’s outfit was what he’d been wearing all day, his old RAAF work shorts with “Mezza” on them and the robot tee that Aidan bought him for Father’s Day. I thought it best not to push him around and dress him up and it kind of worked. I wore my beloved Virtu North Shore Crop Denim Pant and what I like to call my “Gift Wrapped” top from Crossroads bought specifically for this photo only to realise that it kinda makes me look like I’m expecting. I’m not by the way. In hindsight I should have cut off the scolloped front… lesson learnt.
I’m thankful, we both are and I feel so blessed to have a family to call my own. We’ll never ever be able to forget those hopeful Christmases. It’s times like these when we appreciate what we have more than ever and our hearts go out to those wishing for a Christmas miracle. I know I don’t talk much about our infertility journey much anymore but at Christmas, when family and celebration are paramount I think it’s fitting. May you all drive safely, drink responsibly, eat plenty and have long naps.
