Sushi Surprise

This morning I woke up bright and early as my living area was being turned into a studio. Another shoot for Pose and the theme was "angel", not usually my cup of tea but that's what Pose it all about, the opportunity to explore creatively. This is Jess the model and Amy was on make up but I'll talk more about that shoot in another post. After they'd left I decided to treat myself to sushi so I drove down to a yummy little place in Windsor Mall. I forgot that as it was Sunday the Windsor Markets ... [ Discover More ]

17 Sundays at Blogopolis PART THREE

Read PART TWO Here. You know it's a good night when you're taking tipsy photos of yourself in the dingy bar toilets don't you? In my defence I forgot to take a photo before I left the hotel and if I waited to take it when I got back to the room... well no one would want to see that! I decided to change out of my 17 Sundays outfit as I was afraid they might get ruined. So here I am, working it in front of the huge mirror in the sticky toilets. Classy. At least my Kiyonna dress looks amazing, ... [ Discover More ]

17 Sundays at Blogopolis PART TWO

blogopolis12 (88)

Read PART ONE Here  The morning after bubbles is always a bit rough. Dani has this ability to just chuck things on and look edgy and fabulous... Natalie and I seem to have to work a bit harder so we got up early and turned the lights on. Dani, the total rockstar requested her sunnies and laid about for another half hour on instagram before getting up and still ended up being ready before us.  Here we are, the room mates all dressed up and ready to get their blog-on. 17 Sundays Take ... 17 Sundays at Blogopolis PART ONE

Ahhh... don't you just love blog conferences! I may be a little addicted and I've definitely lost count on how many blogging events I've attended and hosted in the last two years. The most recent conference was Nuffnang Blogopolis (#NNB2012) in Sydney which is what the next few posts are all about. When I go to conferences I like to make a big deal out of it, arrive a day earlier, stay a day later. I like to plan my outfits, prep my camera bag and get my hair and nails done. I live and work ... Urban Remedy Cleanse Winter Menu

A few of the US bloggers I follow on twitter highly recommended liquid detoxes made up of soup, juices and smoothies as meal replacements for a short period of time. I hadn't heard or seen anything like that in Australia so after a quick search I found a similar company to the one they used and started following them on twitter. Shortly after I was contacted by the Urban Remedy  marketing team to see if I wanted to trial their new winter menu so I said yes, I was keen to see what all the fuss ... [ Discover More ]

27 Blinks

Yesterday, the 17th of July was my 27th birthday. Steve was at work and Aidan was at daycare so I was a free agent for the morning. We weren't flush with cash so shopping was out of the question as were any beauty treatments or even the idea of getting my hair done. Rather than going home to sit in front of my computer I decided to change things up a bit. I grabbed some lunch and headed to the duck ponds. It was a beautiful sunny day, the air was cool and crisp but the sun was so warm and ... [ Discover More ]

How to Date Yourself

I've been sick, stuck in the house with a whining sick little boy and a mountain of housework to get through. It was Thursday night, Steve had come home early so I just decided to get out for a few hours, I needed it. I felt myself making excuses "We need toilet paper and condoms." thinking the only way I could venture out solo was if I was running an sad. I sat on the edge of the bed thinking about time, about pleasure, about guilt and about self worth. I decided to skip the ... [ Discover More ]

Bling & Bra

Everyone, I'd like you to meet Ainsley who modeled for me on Saturday for my second POSE Project, you can see my first one here.  Ainsley signed up to be the Make Up Artist but when the original assigned model had to cancel short notice she stepped up and filled both roles. The shoot took place in my bathroom with nothing more than my camera, a simple standing fixed light and of course natural light... oh and Lana Del Rey and Marina & The Diamonds playing loudly on my laptop. Ainsley sat in ... [ Discover More ]

American Tourister Giveaway

After getting so many tweets, emails and questions via email I thought I'd share a little bit more about my gorgeous luggage from American Tourister... it's VERY me isn't it! After I knew my trip to FFFWeek was confirmed I contacted American Tourister via facebook asking if they would be interested in a collaboration. I knew they were experimenting with social media as their facebook page was new and they'd recently done a giveaway with Nuffnang. It never hurts to ask and in the end it worked ... Female For Life: Part Four

Every now and then I do something even I don't expect me to do... like flounce about on my blog wearing a onesie. You could say FFFWeek gave me the burst of confidence I needed to show you the Yoga Body Suit from Female For Life. I've been holding on to it for weeks, making excuses not to wear it. When Mel initially asked me if I'd wear it I said "Yeah sure no worries I could rock that no problem!" but when it arrived I was nervous. Like the rest of the active wear it's really small but then you ... [ Discover More ]

Gown & Stones

Several weeks ago I was on facebook and my friend Amy (the make up artist) liked a page called Pose Project Management and I was intrigued. Basically the premise of the page is to connect up and coming photographers, models, stylists, hair and make up artists and get them to collaborate on projects (for free) to build their portfolios. It's a free community to join, none of the artists are paid they just receive photos as payment. There are dedicated "suburb" groups within the community which ... [ Discover More ]

Mummy Beauty Fashion Blogger

I get asked all the time to sum up my blog into one category. Am I a beauty blogger, a fashion blogger or a mummy blogger? To be honest I kind of resent the fact that I have to "fit in" anywhere. I'm confident enough to believe that I'm unique and coined the term "Vanity Blogger". As a vanity blogger you just write about you, what you're interests are, what your passionate about with the freedom to delve into any category you like. It's like a lifestyle blogger who's very self indulgent, shares ... [ Discover More ]

DMNYC Chinese Food and Friends

It was my third night in NYC and Caitlin and I had been invited out to have Chinese for dinner with Jessica from Too Many Sequins and a few of her friends. I'll admit I haven't talked to that many international bloggers, just the few who have been around about as long as I have but none of them were attending FFFWeek. It was up to me to put on a brave face, admit I didn't know a single thing about anyone at the table, make a good impression and have a good time... but that's how new friendships ... DMNYC Chicago on Broadway

I never planned to go and see a Broadway show, it wasn't on high on my priority list and I was worried about how much it would cost. Caitlin convinced me otherwise and I'll be forever grateful that she did. She stood in line for 2 hours and bought tickets for us to go and see Chicago. Samantha somehow managed to grab a ticket at the door, we weren't seated together but at least we all got in together. Photography was banned within the theatre but I managed to snap two blurry shots to at least ... [ Discover More ]
