Aussie Curves – Dark

I interpreted this week’s theme “Dark” as more of a mood rather than a colour scheme. I was sent this beautiful Clements Ribeiro Swan dress from Evans several weeks ago but I never had a suitable event or occasion to wear it to, to really do it justice. When Suger came to stay we both knew I’d have to wear it for this week’s challenge and it was so fun to have her take these photos for me.

Suger also suggested that I wear my red hot pumps for the shoot to match my Make Up Forever, Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour #08 Red… and she was so right! The older I get the more I love red lipsticks and stains but I still find it hard to rock a bold lip during the day. Even at night, especially in front of an old (and quite possibly haunted) old building, the red lip felt totally vampy. It stays on forever and feels amazing on my lips. Suger wanted to steal it.

Back to the dress, it’s a completely different shape to what I’m used it. Actually it might be the most structurally shapeless dress I own. Big balloon sleeves, loose neckline, soft and thin fabric that fell softly on my curves. When I first showed Steve he asked if they were pyjamas but once I added the hair, make up and shoes he was convinced that they weren’t. It just has a really sensual feel to it.

It was great to really let loose in front of the camera, knowing that Suger wouldn’t laugh, that she was just as serious as me to get these shots right. It was tricky shooting on someone else’s big camera with a big flash in the middle of the night and not really being able to see what she was shooting at. Lets all give Suger a hand because I love the pics.

Teer Wayde (Australia’s First CLEO Magazine Centerfold) gave me these shoes last year, they’re from Torrid and as much as I said I’d never wear them because I don’t wear red, they’ve so far been my statement shoes. I’ve even wore them when I was a Skorch Magazine Covergirl! Glossy red heels and glossy red lips… vixen combination.

As the weeks go by and each challenge passes I fall even more in love with the Aussie Curves ladies, they’re an inspiring bunch and I really hope you all enjoy blog hopping across to each of them. I read all the posts and comments and it really fills me with pride knowing that every single one of them is reaching out and inspiring someone else. The self love is spreading and just quietly, I hope it becomes highly contagious!

Ohhh, I kept looking at that dress, but always ended up not getting it cause I don’t tend to wear light colours much. This looks amazing on you, while it isn’t a tight fit, it still shows off your curves, and I LOVE the red with it.
