We’ve all been run down with the flu and I’ve been fighting it off for the last week or so and it’s wearing on me. I’m constantly up late with my little boy who normally sleeps through the night and Steve has man-flu so we all know how that goes. I’ve taken them both to the doctors so I know it’s not serious and they don’t need antibiotics but the world may as well be ending as far as they are concerned. I’ve spent a lot of time hiding in my studio watching “Girls”.
To top it all off it’s Grandparents Week at preschool and I’ve had my Mum and my Grandparents come down over the last two days to celebrate and share Aidan’s enthusiasm for preschool. Did I mention I also joined the preschool committee this week? I feel like I’ve lived at that place the last few days which means I’ve hardly got any work done, whilst it was hard at first to let it go I’m glad I did.
The “miniMAG” is going well and I’m so glad I’ve found a place to share all the plus size news, gossip and discounts I absorb throughout the week. This might sound strange but I didn’t want to blog about all that stuff. I’ve listened to what some of you have been saying the last few months and I want to put more of me and my raw mundane thoughts here. I’ve been guarded, I know that but I’m trying something new and I hope it sticks. Danimezza is a blog that evolves, sharing my thoughts and what I’m passionate about in the moment. I started to forget that and got stuck in a niche and thats not me.
In case you didn’t know about the miniMAG it’s a weekly newsletter that arrives in your inbox every Monday morning and covers: News, Beauty, Lust Have, Plus Size Models, Aussie Curves Highlights, Discounts, Instagrams, Ask Me Styling Questions, a personal letter about what’s on my mind and a new cover model. It’s full on and takes a full week for me to curate but I love it and I hope you love it too. If you want your very own copy just enter you email address in the sidebar underneath this week’s cover, too easy.
My trip to Melbourne over the weekend was fraught with travel issues beyond my control which resulted in a full day of cancelled meetings which was far from ideal. I was rooming with my kick ass friend Samantha who was in town to visit her parents and we had a dinner with 17 Sundays and ate the best prawn dumpling soup I’ve ever had in my entire life. We drank wine that had a monkey on the label and tried on pieces from their new season, it was so much fun.
On Sunday I’d lined up models from both Bella and BGM agencies for a street style shoot for a project I’m working on. I was exhausted but as soon as the girls arrived, one by one over the course of the day, something awoke inside of me and I was in the zone. I’ve tried doing shoots with backdrops, lighting gear, assistants and all that other crap but there is nothing quite as freeing as shooting solo. Just me, my camera, a model and natural light. I can’t wait for you to see the photos.
I have an event tonight (keep an eye on instagram) and then a dinner meeting with my agent, it’s all very exciting. The part I’m excited about most is stepping back from my inbox and delving more into creating content for my blog. I feel like I’ve been chained to the damn thing the last few months and I need some freedom. I need to leave the negotiations and hard balling to someone else and focus on writing, taking photos and just being present.
On that note I’m off to get my impossible hair sorted, put my face on, take my yellow Aussie Curves outfit photos and then change into my glam outfit for tonight and jump on the train. There is nothing quite like being on the train in the middle of the afternoon with school children dressed up to the nines and heading into the city. My life is weird, sometimes dark, lonely and yet filled with passion, drive and new experiences… I love it.
