This week’s theme is Military and I guess you wouldn’t pick it unless I told you. One of the things I love about Aussie Curves is that the challenges are all open to interpretation. I don’t really own anything military so I was stumped. I knew I wanted to shop-my-wardrobe so I stared at what I had in my closet and let my mind wander and it landed on Evil Russian Bond Spy… complete with vicious guard dog.
Bond girls are glamorous, dangerous, dramatic and powerful, who wouldn’t want to emulate that in an outfit. They always have sneaky, sexy spy moves and carry a knife on their thigh. They know how to handle a gun and high kick in a pair of lace up knee high boots. Bond girls go beyond the basic infantry uniform but there is always an element of metallic, fur and heavy eyeliner… oh and big hair.
I didn’t plan the make up, it just sort of happened. I started with foundation, concealer, powder, did a bit of contouring and filled in my brows. Then I built up three shades of eyeshadow to contour and add depth. I used a thick black crayon eyeliner on both lash lines then applied mascara.
Then I used a strip of sticky tape and applied it in a straight line beneath my eye. Using a short bristle brush I dabbed dark gunmetal eyeshadow in a line about an inch thick and then removed the sticky tape which left a strong straight line. Why did I do it? I thought why the hell not? I felt like a total badass. My lipstick is a blend of two and I chose the colour simply because it matches my nail polish.
