Last Thursday I got dressed up and headed into the city for an event showcasing GLAM by Manicare products. I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t heard of Manicare or used their products before. I’d tried a few of their lashes and didn’t mind them but was keen to learn a few more tricks to apply the suckers.
This isn’t even half of the booty we got to take home with us after the event, totally crazy. It was good to get a full view of the range and be able to rip things open and actually try them out. There were also eyelash curlers and lash applicators different from anything else I’ve tried before. I’d never used nail stickers before (I know, late to the party) or attempt nail art in any capacity. I’ve always been quite content with my no fuss Shellac applications. This was going to be fun.
I tried the nail stickers out this week, I chose the black lace set which got rave reviews on instagram. I popped Girls on the computer and set about giving myself a mani and applying them which wasn’t as “express” as this perfectionist would have liked. It was quite fiddly and I needed to do a fair bit of trimming for them to sit right. Once they were applied I used my thick glossy Orly Top Coat and they’ve been perfect for a week now. They were fun and I’d definitely use them again.
On arrival we were greeted with a mixed sushi and cheese platter, sparkling water and mini bottles of bubbly. I could dip grapes and walnuts in camembert forever I think. The whole event had a very relaxed feel and it was nice to sit around a table full of beauty bloggers who get just as excited about this stuff as I do.
It was a pleasure to meet make up artist Allie Clarke who instructed the workshop and works with GLAM by Manicare to develop the brand and it’s products. I love having the opportunity to meet industry professionals who are skilled in what they do and care about bridging that gap for the everyday consumer, it’s inspiring.
We all tried on sets of lashes. There were so many to chose from, some had glitter, some had rhinestones, some were long, some were short and there were even “Twiggy” lashes for your lower lash-line. It was awesome.
I tried on the Kelly lashes and loved the fullness of the criss-cross design which gave a full look without being heavy. You can check out a more detailed review in this week’s miniMAG here: http://eepurl.com/wG_rf
My outfit for the event was very simple but got a lot of love on instagram. My new basic dress from ASOS curve arrived so I wore it with the orange belt from my City Chic Peplum Dress, my floral leggings from Crossraods, my black foldable flats from TS14+ and my silver Audrey Lu bag from 3Annies. It was a fun event and I can’t wait to show you more of what I learnt.
