How old are you and when did you first start modelling?
I am 19 turning 20 in a month! I was with a little people’s agency when I was younger didn’t get any work from them so I didn’t keep going with that. I have always wanted to be a model but never knew about plus size agency’s until I left high school and I found Bella Models and sent in my digis and was signed pretty much straight away. I have been with Bella for a year and a half now I think!
You’re also a talented photographer, how did you get started?
Oh thank you! Photography also combines with my modeling. I take a lot of self portraits and that’s how I got the interest for modelling and photography. My auntie and uncle gave me one of their cameras (my uncle’s a photographer) and it started from there! Networking networking networking is the key!! A lot of people doubted me and I got a lot of bullying but I loved what I was doing and wasn’t going to let them bring me down.
Is photography a passion you hope to pursue full time?
Yeah I would love to have my passion as a full time gig, who wouldn’t! I love my style of photography. For those of you who don’t know I photograph women who have curves. They might not be confident before they shoot with me but they always leave the shoot feeling amazing and love how they look in the photos. I love capturing natural beauty, you can find it in anyone.
What is it about fashion that excites you and who inspires you?
Hmm I think that you are able to express who you are by the clothing you wear. I’m excited that I can now shop online and in stores that cater for curvy models yay to that, finally! I don’t think I have someone who inspires me with my fashion, I’m a bit all over the place. Like my photography it’s focused on curvy women so I branch out to the pin up hot rod scene which is what I have been brought up around, that kind of scene.
Do you find you have to work harder as a size 16 model in Australia?
Yes and no. I’m currently trying to get down to a size 14 purely because I want to and I think it’s a good goal. I’m completely happy and comfortable with my current size but I would like to tone up a bit!
Have you worked on any commercial campaigns?
Not yet! But I did do a shoot for target a bra shoot that unfortunately didn’t get seen.
Who would you love to model for?
What effect did being published in Plus Model Magazine have on your career?
Oh my gosh that day was crazy it first happened when I was photographed by my friend Hana and the pic went viral! Hehe, they posted it and it got sooo many likes and shares. Then my agent Chelsea and I talked about a possible spread in Plus Model Magazine! I was like YES PLEASE! So yeah, my friend Georgia helped me get some awesome shots done and I was in the issue. I think Plus Model Magazine really helped me get noticed online so thank you Madeline!!!
How would you describe your own personal style?
I have no idea, like I said above I’m a bit of everything. I wear a lot of black but my wardrobe keeps changing and there’s a lot of ASOS in there at the moment. I like change so I change depending on my mood I guess but in the end it’s all about me feeling comfortable in what I wear!
