This post was brought to you by TS14+
I’ve been a little bit all over the joint the past few months, most recently on the Gold Coast but just prior to that I was jetting off to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week to see TS14+ on the runway. I’ve spoken about my relationship with TS14+, the make up looks and a now I want to give you a bit of insight into my trip.
I arrived in Melbourne around midday the day before the show and the weather was absolutely beautiful, in all my trips it has never been as glorious, always damp and cloudy. I checked into Novotel on Collins which over the years has become a home away from home, it’s just the perfect location for me and the beds are amazing. Directly across the street is a Nespresso store and I was invited to stop by thanks to a lovely long-time reader who works there. Hi Nicole! *waves*
I had to come up with a head to toe outfit so I started with the laser cut out cardigan and built everything else around it, beyond beautiful. The day was going to be long so no heels for this lady, instead I wore my silver glitter flats. I gave my hair a soft curl, natural pretty make up and rocked the monochrome trend.
At about 8am I sat and watched all the models as they did their “walk through”, getting used to the layout, the routine and shaking off their nerves. The crew sipped coffees as the girls did a dress rehearsal and we all clapped and cheered. Then it was time for the gift bags to be filled and the runway to be prepped so the girls were shipped off to Hair & Make up which you can read about here.
Both shows were a total hit, the first one was filled with people to the point of capacity, it was amazing. People of all shapes and sizes, some TS devotees, some Danimezza readers, the rest a mix of genuinely interested people from off the street. If you haven’t seen it yet you can watch the runway show below or see a summary of the looks here.
I was so proud of the girls as they walked, some are used to strutting but a few of the girls were brand new but you couldn’t tell, they totally brought their A game. I had an overwhelming urge to cheer and holler at them as they walked past, the pride bursting out of me, now I understand why everyone does it at FFFWeek. The community who views the shows, supports the community of women who create it and they do so with passion, no stoney faced “frow” here.
After the shows had both concluded we stepped outside for a quick group photo, all on a high from the awesome team effort. I was finally able to chat to everyone, give lots of hugs and let everyone touch my hair and call me blondie. 80% of the girls I’ve already met and have worked with in the past so it was fun to catch up but it was also nice to meet the fresh faces.
After lunch Bella Model Management took everyone on the team out for something to eat and to talk shop… and shopping of course. It was by far the longest lunch I’ve ever had in my life and it was fabulous, the food, location and company was amazing. That night I worked in my room, writing until the wee hours completely and utterly uninterrupted, it was bliss.
The next day I woke up early and got a head start on a few drafts, rewarding my efforts by checking out of the hotel, storing my bags and heading out into the city. First I had lunch at Grill’d because, derr how could I not? Then the heavens opened and the damp and rainy Melbourne that I was familiar with returned. With a belly full of nom noms I then headed to the art gallery to experience the Monet exhibition which left me breathless and sobbing as his work always seems to do. On the way back towards the hotel I treated myself at my favourite little cupcake place and stopped in at Myer.
I really wanted the Benefit Cosmetic touch to my brows and the lovely Katina made that happen, a seriously cool chic who knows her stuff. She made up my face and sent me on my way, back to the hotel to collect my bags and then off to the airport for an evening flight home. I missed the boys terribly, each time I go away I swear Aidan grows an extra three inches taller. I brought home three little wind up dinosaurs as a token of my guilt and all was forgiven. My life isn’t always like this but when it is I treasure it, I jot it down on my little blog and when I’m feeling low I remember the people, the rewards and why I am where I am… forever grateful.
