As usual my stomach is turning. Brett the flight stewards smooth silky voice is calming me more than it probably should. I always get like this before a big job, don’t get me wrong I love it and I’m extremely passionate about my readers needs and making my everyday like thrilling, but not for one second do I take any of the opportunities I’m given for granted. That is why you’ll find me huddled in my allocated seat scribbling in a note pad old school style trying to find a way to convey my feelings.
When I tell people I work with TS14+ sometimes their eyes roll, sometimes they accidentally laugh. I know their gut instinct well because about three/four years ago I felt the same way. One lovely lady in the marketing team read my blog, liked what she saw and convinced the office to educate me. I was invited to the Mid City store in Pitt St Mall to try new things in new ways with a TS14+ stylist on hand. I went in with an open mind and four hours later I left enlightened and with bags in my hands.
There was something about the fabrics. There was something about the fit. There was something about the level of comfort that had me checking the website every few weeks for new stock. Old ladies didn’t wear TS14+ because it was created for their demographic, they wore it because they knew better…
- Moisture wicking leggings… yes please!
- Expensive fabrics that don’t require ironing… yes please!
- On trend colours and bold prints… yes please!
There is a misconceptions that you have to wear TS14+ head to toe but I’ve been dispelling that myth for years. I wish I had a dollar for every time I was complimented on a TS14+ piece, it always takes people by surprise when I tell them where it’s from.
I don’t really own tights by anyone else anymore, they’re sort of magical. Their Kore 9-5 tops are brilliant, I have five different colours and plan on buying more this season when the new colours are released. Their capri pants fill my wardrobe and I have way too many cardigans. Yes I know TS14+ isn’t cheap but neither is City Chic. Plus if you follow their facebook page or subscribe to their newsletter you’ll find some awesome bargains, they’re not afraid of a good sale.
Since my store visit I’ve worked with TS14+ a lot. I get their message, I get their product and every time I showcase a piece on the blog I like to think you’re experiencing something similar to what I did in store that day. The whole team from e-commerce to marketing, to the warehouse team, the photography studio team and even the models feel like family and I’ve always been treated as such. They really have set the bar quite high for me when it comes to blogger/brand relationships.
I’m still on the plane and on my way to Melbourne, one of many trips that TS14+ has sent me on. Did you know they helped me get to New York last year? They believe in my message, in my dream and enjoy being a part of the journey. I stare out the window and wonder how I got so lucky. There are many who feel the same way I do about the industry, some with degrees and years of experience. I’m not discrediting what I bring to the table but it does keep my grounded, even when I’m miles high in the sky.
Tomorrow TS14+ take to the runway. It might not seem like much to some but for a plus size label to be included and invited back year after year is a rare and beautiful thing. I covered last years event and it was magic. I was so proud of the team for putting on a polished show (no gimmicks) and for the models, some who have never had the opportunity to walk a runway before. It is a big deal and I’m proud to be there and prouder still to be wanted there, to share the moment.
The first runway show is at 12pm and the second one is at 1pm so if you’re near the city at that time of day please come and say high, watch the show and pick up a gift bag. The show is free to attend so come down and show your support for the plus size fashion industry… I’ll see you there!
TS14+ has sponsored a series of posts that I will write around my experiences as the #TS14PlusInsider but this isn’t one of them. This was written out of love and because my heart might burst if I didn’t share all this with you. Never underestimate the power of gratitude, I know it pulls words out of me like nothing else.
