Da Club

Last Friday night I went out dancing at my local nightclub… I know, who am I?

I’d never been there before and beside the odd blogging conference I hadn’t been “out-out” in years. I get the most amazing opportunities to go to awesome places, drink incredible concoctions, wear fun outfits but at the end of the day I’m still “working” and have to have some resemblance of my “game face” at the end of the night. I can never truly just let loose in those situations but when I’m chilling out with Monica and Stephanie I can!

I warned Stephanie that I may embarrass her, that I was too old, that I might not remember how to dance in a cool way and yes, I would be flirting like crazy. I’m a big flirt, it’s fun and it feels good so why not. Monica and I were like Housewives Unleashed, it was beyond fun! We were knocking back those two for one cocktails like nobodies business and warming up for a serious ass shaking session.

Needless to say it didn’t take long to reach that point.

Monica and I only really get to hang out once or twice a fortnight, she comes over to mine for dinner or we meet up at the park so our boys can go wild. We try and cram in conversations about our lives but it’s all jammed in between interruptions, trips to the potty, dissolving arguments, figuring out what to feed them next and cleaning up. We needed some serious girl time and after our recent jaunt to Kings Cross we realised it needed to happen more often. Highs and lows this girl is by my side.

I feel the same way about hanging out with my sister. She visits once a year over uni summer break and it’s awesome, for 6 weeks or more she’s all mine. Growing up we were never really that close, I was older and overly protective so I spent most of my time mothering her, bossing her around and judging her. I pushed her away which made her resentful and defensive, that’s something I’ll have to live with but what I can change is the present. Over the last few years we’ve gotten closer and whilst I can’t make up for the years lost I sure as hell wont be wasting any more.

Deep for a nightclub post… back to the drinking!

The rest of the night was spent dancing up a sweat until 3am and it was awesome. I forgot how much I loved shaking my ass, working my crazy moves and getting my sexy on. I sipped Gentleman’s Jack & Ginger in a tall glass (which got me props from the bartender), grooved with my girls and got to rock a new dress which had the compliments flying in. I have another post I want to write about plus size girls in the club so keep an eye out for that but for now just enjoy this sweaty bathroom selfie and know I’ll be on another dance floor real soon!
