About the event…
“The Curvy Couture Roadshow (CCR) is the first plus size fashion event to be associated with the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, as part of their Cultural Program for 2014. It’s also the first event to showcase so many independent Australian plus size designers in one place.
CCR was established with the objective of promoting emerging Australian designers who specialise in sizes 14 and up. The plus size independent fashion market is a rich field that deserves celebration and CCR is dedicated to bringing together plus size women and designers to celebrate accessible fashion in a welcoming environment. We believe that fashion and design should be accessible to everyone, no matter their size or shape. Our event involves runways with plus size volunteer street models, a market full of local and interstate designers and a warm, welcoming festival atmosphere for everyone.
CCR is a safe space for every person who walks through the door to explore fashion and style. The event creates the opportunity for customers to experience designs up close and personal and for designer/exhibitors to meet face to face with over a thousand potential customers. Through a day of catwalks and markets, we will ensure each potential customer stays entertained and satisfied, promoting a positive love of fashion and fun.
We have an amazing array of designers/brands that have jumped on board to give you a day to remember, brands such as Robyn Lawley Swimwear, Meri by Design, Embody Denim, Harlow and Lucabella from New Zealand. So many local and interstate designers will be attending and showcasing their looks on our catwalk too, giving you access to not only the better known names but also up and coming designers. No matter the name, each runway show will impress with their differing and dazzling range and style!”
Personally I’m excited to be attending, not only for the event itself but also to catch up with friends and soak up Melbourne. I’ll be flying down on the Friday for a few meetings and a bit of fun, spending Saturday brunching (with a bit of shopping on the side) then immersing myself in the event all day Sunday before a late night flight home. It’s going to be epic.
I love that so many bloggers are coming along to support the event, the apartment I’ve booked for the weekend is at capacity and there is an ongoing search for another. Having so many of the Aussie Curve girls together is going to be fabulous on so many levels. I’m already feeling a bit sorry for the bathrooms and wardrobes.
You should follow the Curvy Couture Roadshow facebook page for all the details and info on the designers who will be showcasing. If you don’t live in Melbourne I’m sure there will be plenty of instagram and blog action but if you DO live close by you should totally come by and say hi, we’re a lovely bunch!
