For the past week or more Aidan and I have spent blissful long, lazy days at my Aunty Penny & Uncle Andy's homestead in country NSW and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the school holidays. I shoved what we needed in the gorgeous Paklite suitcase I was gifted for review, filled the car with blankets and pillows, strapped our bikes to the back then we hit the road. We left Steve and our dog Charlie at home which was sad but I'm so glad Aidan and I ventured out and explored ... [ Discover More ]

Aussie Curves – Bridal

Steve and I met on the 21st of March 2003 when I was just 17 and he was 23. We married on the 24th of March 2007 surrounded by less than fifty family and friends at the Sebel Resort in the Hawkesbury. For twelve years I've loved a man who is not only my best friend but my partner, my husband of eight years. When young people fall in love and get married most assume it wont last. Sure love can change with the years, it can falter but it can also lift you higher. I rarely talk about my ... [ Discover More ]

Cinderella

IMG_0783

A surprise invitation arrived in the mail which included three passes to attend the Sydney premiere of Cinderella at the State Theatre. I'm not sure if it would even be possible to convey the level of excitement and anticipation that flooded the house. Wardrobes were raided in the hopes of finding the perfect outfits. It ended in a week-long op shopping mission to find a new suit for my little Prince Charming who was adamant on suiting-up. As you can see he was pretty happy with the ... [ Discover More ]

Christmas

danimezza xmas 9

Christmas this year has been going strong since November which is when I started putting up the decorations. Aidan's excitement was infectious and let's face it, it was a beautiful distraction during a difficult time. I revamped a tired old wreath (using glitter and metallic spray paint) that I found in an op shop and gave it to Monica as she'd never had a wreath of her own and I wanted her to have one that was totally unique. She was close to tears when she discovered it, hanging proudly on her ... [ Discover More ]

FAMILY 2014 sml-3

I love my family. We're outwardly confident, emotional, stubborn, loyal and loving. I have more relations outside of this group but at the end of the day these are the ones who really know me, they're my people: Mum, Dad, my sister and my boys. Sometimes I wish we weren't so insular, that there were more bums on seats around the table at gatherings, that we weren't so co-dependant and self sufficient but then again I'm not sure I'd really have had it any other way. This is what I know, who I ... [ Discover More ]

I shared this photo online earlier this week and I just wanted to say thank you for the huge response! It's been awhile since I got my proper camera out and took some photos just for the love of it. Steve takes my outfit photos and I've been lazy and using my iPhone often, I'll try to do better but in the meantime enjoy peeking into one of my most used spaces. In case you're wondering... that's my spot. I will forever be cursed with custard coloured walls. Why people think tan/beige/custard ... [ Discover More ]

I am blessed to have a son. A son who is undoubtedly as colourful and conversational as his mother and as cheeky and practical as his father. I've also shared his room on the blog in the past (here, here and here) but for the first time it's not just me doing the styling, Aidan's getting in on the action too. As he's at the wise old age of five now he considers himself a bit of an expert when it comes to knowing what he likes and doesn't like. Dinosaurs, stars and rainbows are at the very top of ... It's been just over three months since we moved into "Old Faithful", a little weather board cottage full of charm and plenty of good juju. I remember walking through the empty house prior to signing the contract and within an instant I could visually place our belongings. Our little family seemed to fit perfectly within the walls and after just a couple of weeks it was as if we'd always lived there. I wasn't sure if I would share too many photos but I just couldn't help myself. I love looking ... [ Discover More ]

I have a secret confession, something I've been working on for months and somehow even managed to hide from instagram. Something I found incredibly hard to do I might add although a few hints crept through... I'm currently obsessed with landscaping, grass to be exact. I drive by golf courses and I'm literally green with envy. I know it's weird especially as there are so many other things I could be obsessed with but my brain has chosen turf. Maybe it's the pain meds. I totally understand if ... [ Discover More ]

Sponsored by Ford Australia for Kidspot Voices 2014 I loved my job, that I could proudly call myself a full time blogger. My blog was a hobby that blossomed into a business, an exciting adventurous dream of a business that suited the very core of my personality. Without it I would not be the person I am today. A person capable of honest and raw self reflection with the ability to remain strong and impenetrable and yet at the same time completely vulnerable. To speak to hundreds of thousands ... Tend and Nurture

I've found it really difficult to write since we moved to Old Faithful, that's what I call the new place by the way. It has nothing to do with bad juju or anything like that, entirely the opposite. I'm so happy and in adoration with this tiny home I find myself spending every spare moment gently tending it's garden, fondling the linens and cushions or finding warm spots to enjoy the breeze and soak up the sunshine. The boys have taken a walk to the park, my sister has gone up the coast to visit ... [ Discover More ]

I'm so glad that I decided to follow my instincts because you guys loved the last post that featured my sister Stephanie wearing Jeanswest. I got so many emails and comments from readers who've never commented before because they felt like I was listening to their needs too. These posts wont happen as often as I'd like due to Stephanie living in Tasmania but when she does come to visit I'm sure I can twist her arm to pose for some photos. These are the exact same Jeanswest "Curve Embracer" ... [ Discover More ]

This is my little sister Stephanie, although it seems a bit redundant to call her that now she's a fully functioning and independent adult... but I'm her big sister so I guess I can call her what ever I like! We've grown really close over the past few years, it's really nice. Before we just kind of swung around in our own orbits, occasionally colliding, often resulting in tears. Not only have we become closer on a personal level but she's also been learning more about what I do for work. So ... [ Discover More ]

On the weekend we attended a wedding, a union between two new friends and it was very special. I meet "Meeks" at Aidan's preschool and casually built up a friendship as her daughter and my son were smitten with each other. We invited their family to Aidan's birthday party and we all just hit it off, even Steve and he's a hard nut to crack. We were excited to get to know this family better but sadly a month later they had to move for "JJ's" work. Meeks + JJ got married on Saturday and it was ... [ Discover More ]

We live in a rental in North West Sydney and we've been in this house for 6 years now. We bumped around from house to house for awhile, the renters market was terrible so we took what we could get. I was recovering from my laproscopic surgery for Endometriosis when we received a letter saying that the bank had claimed the owners house and we had 14 days to get out. From the letterbox I saw an estate agent hammering a "For Lease" sign into the ground just down the street. I walked in, saw that ... [ Discover More ]

After the Christmas holiday break with my family in Port Stephens I was really unhappy. I missed the togetherness, the seaside living and weirdly enough, the disconnect. I left my laptop at home for over a week, barely used my phone (except to take pics) and put my email in vacation mode. That might not sound like a big sacrifice to most but for me it was like going completely off the grid... and I liked it. I liked it so much that after we got home a week later Aidan and I left Steve at home to ... [ Discover More ]

Melnyczenko Family Christmas 2013 -113

It's the new year and I'm feeling a little nostalgic, even about moments that only occurred a week ago. As the family was getting together to celebrate Christmas I took it as the perfect opportunity to get us all dressed up, to take a new family picture and head out for a relaxed dinner. No elaborate background locations, no matching outfits, no stress, just us as we are. I asked the neighbour to take the photos and we all stood in the driveway. I'm happy to say it all worked out ... Christmas has been and gone. We travelled up the coast to stay with my family for the holidays and it was bliss. Just Dad, Mum, my sister Stephanie, Steve, Aidan and myself. We went to the beach, the park, the shops and even went out and looked at all the pretty Christmas lights, it was just so damn lovely, the whole trip, everything. So here I am, a week later and I'm writing this post reminiscing and looking at pictures. Ever since we got home I've been cracking the sads. I just want to go ... [ Discover More ]

I don't really have any more fancy parties to attend, my silly season is officially over and I literally just tied a bow on the last bit of work I had to do for the year. I'm officially done. We will be driving up the coast to celebrate Christmas with my family and I can't wait to chill out and relax. I'd be surprised if you found me in anything more than a bikini and sunscreen this week. The make up, heels and hair extensions are definitely staying at home but I will be wearing this dress on ... [ Discover More ]

Last Friday night I went out dancing at my local nightclub... I know, who am I? I'd never been there before and beside the odd blogging conference I hadn't been "out-out" in years. I get the most amazing opportunities to go to awesome places, drink incredible concoctions, wear fun outfits but at the end of the day I'm still "working" and have to have some resemblance of my "game face" at the end of the night. I can never truly just let loose in those situations but when I'm chilling out with ... [ Discover More ]

My baby turned four years old on Sunday and on Saturday we threw his very first proper birthday party with lots of friends, food and dinosaurs. The planning started a month before, Aidan and I would look at Pinterest together, make lists and window shop for ideas. It was nice, all working on the party together. I learnt to ... [ Discover More ]

My little dude loves dinosaurs. Aidan could play with them all day long. He absorbs dinosaur books, can say all the names perfectly, plays with his figurines for hours and he prefers the documentary style movies over cartoons. He loves fashion just as much, the boy is pretty fly when it comes to pulling together outfits in the morning. Washed denim jeans, woven belts, a long sleeve tee under a printed short sleeve tee and a cap tilted slightly to the side is his go-to look. I've always ... [ Discover More ]

Where Does the Time Go?

darwin Collage

I recently flew to the Northern Territory which is where I grew up, it was a secret and utterly magical. Darwin was brilliant. I turned 28, surprised my friends, got dressed up for the races, got to snuggle babies and chilled out by the beach on numerous occasions. The only thing that could have made my birthday sweeter was having my boys by my side. Whilst everyone down home was wearing track pants and jumpers, I was working my shorts and chiffon numbers. The weather was spectacularly ... [ Discover More ]
