Aidan insisted on being in this week's photos and I'll be the first to admit that the kid outshone his Mumma in a big way. We had plans to go out to dinner with one of my besties who I've known since high school in the Northern Territory so it seemed like the perfect time to jump back into the challenge. Yeah, sorry about being so absent, lots going on... but anyway, enjoy the photos! Danielle New Look Polka Dot Dress - ASOS Black Stockings - Sonsee Ankle Boots - Target Earrings ... Tend and Nurture

I've found it really difficult to write since we moved to Old Faithful, that's what I call the new place by the way. It has nothing to do with bad juju or anything like that, entirely the opposite. I'm so happy and in adoration with this tiny home I find myself spending every spare moment gently tending it's garden, fondling the linens and cushions or finding warm spots to enjoy the breeze and soak up the sunshine. The boys have taken a walk to the park, my sister has gone up the coast to visit ... [ Discover More ]

Curve Embracer – Part Two

Danimezza Jeans West Curvy Denim Jeans Stephanie Sister-14

I'm so glad that I decided to follow my instincts because you guys loved the last post that featured my sister Stephanie wearing Jeanswest. I got so many emails and comments from readers who've never commented before because they felt like I was listening to their needs too. These posts wont happen as often as I'd like due to Stephanie living in Tasmania but when she does come to visit I'm sure I can twist her arm to pose for some photos. These are the exact same Jeanswest "Curve Embracer" ... [ Discover More ]

This is my little sister Stephanie, although it seems a bit redundant to call her that now she's a fully functioning and independent adult... but I'm her big sister so I guess I can call her what ever I like! We've grown really close over the past few years, it's really nice. Before we just kind of swung around in our own orbits, occasionally colliding, often resulting in tears. Not only have we become closer on a personal level but she's also been learning more about what I do for work. So ... [ Discover More ]

On the weekend we attended a wedding, a union between two new friends and it was very special. I meet "Meeks" at Aidan's preschool and casually built up a friendship as her daughter and my son were smitten with each other. We invited their family to Aidan's birthday party and we all just hit it off, even Steve and he's a hard nut to crack. We were excited to get to know this family better but sadly a month later they had to move for "JJ's" work. Meeks + JJ got married on Saturday and it was ... [ Discover More ]

Danimezza Kitchen Revamp 2014-1

We live in a rental in North West Sydney and we've been in this house for 6 years now. We bumped around from house to house for awhile, the renters market was terrible so we took what we could get. I was recovering from my laproscopic surgery for Endometriosis when we received a letter saying that the bank had claimed the owners house and we had 14 days to get out. From the letterbox I saw an estate agent hammering a "For Lease" sign into the ground just down the street. I walked in, saw that ... [ Discover More ]

After the Christmas holiday break with my family in Port Stephens I was really unhappy. I missed the togetherness, the seaside living and weirdly enough, the disconnect. I left my laptop at home for over a week, barely used my phone (except to take pics) and put my email in vacation mode. That might not sound like a big sacrifice to most but for me it was like going completely off the grid... and I liked it. I liked it so much that after we got home a week later Aidan and I left Steve at home to ... [ Discover More ]

Family Photo 2013

Melnyczenko Family Christmas 2013 -113

It's the new year and I'm feeling a little nostalgic, even about moments that only occurred a week ago. As the family was getting together to celebrate Christmas I took it as the perfect opportunity to get us all dressed up, to take a new family picture and head out for a relaxed dinner. No elaborate background locations, no matching outfits, no stress, just us as we are. I asked the neighbour to take the photos and we all stood in the driveway. I'm happy to say it all worked out ... Aussie Curves – Christmas

Christmas has been and gone. We travelled up the coast to stay with my family for the holidays and it was bliss. Just Dad, Mum, my sister Stephanie, Steve, Aidan and myself. We went to the beach, the park, the shops and even went out and looked at all the pretty Christmas lights, it was just so damn lovely, the whole trip, everything. So here I am, a week later and I'm writing this post reminiscing and looking at pictures. Ever since we got home I've been cracking the sads. I just want to go ... [ Discover More ]

Melnyczenko Family Christmas 2013-1

I don't really have any more fancy parties to attend, my silly season is officially over and I literally just tied a bow on the last bit of work I had to do for the year. I'm officially done. We will be driving up the coast to celebrate Christmas with my family and I can't wait to chill out and relax. I'd be surprised if you found me in anything more than a bikini and sunscreen this week. The make up, heels and hair extensions are definitely staying at home but I will be wearing this dress on ... [ Discover More ]

Da Club

Last Friday night I went out dancing at my local nightclub... I know, who am I? I'd never been there before and beside the odd blogging conference I hadn't been "out-out" in years. I get the most amazing opportunities to go to awesome places, drink incredible concoctions, wear fun outfits but at the end of the day I'm still "working" and have to have some resemblance of my "game face" at the end of the night. I can never truly just let loose in those situations but when I'm chilling out with ... [ Discover More ]

On Monday Aidan and I were flown down to Melbourne for the day to attend the Kmart Spring/Summer Fashion Launch. It was very exciting for Aidan who was pumped about it for days, I on the other hand was worried about the logistics and possible public tantrums from over tiredness. I needn't have worried because he was an absolute superstar the whole trip, up and out of his bed at 4am and back in it by 9:30pm. By Kmart We arrived just as everyone was finding seats for the show. My baby turned four years old on Sunday and on Saturday we threw his very first proper birthday party with lots of friends, food and dinosaurs. The planning started a month before, Aidan and I would look at Pinterest together, make lists and window shop for ideas. Even Steve was actively involved in the planning and execution as he's escorted Aidan to a fair few parties whilst I've been away and considered himself a bit of an expert. It was nice, all working on the party together. I learnt to ... [ Discover More ]

Dinosaurs Go RAWR

My little dude loves dinosaurs. Aidan could play with them all day long. He absorbs dinosaur books, can say all the names perfectly, plays with his figurines for hours and he prefers the documentary style movies over cartoons. He loves fashion just as much, the boy is pretty fly when it comes to pulling together outfits in the morning. Washed denim jeans, woven belts, a long sleeve tee under a printed short sleeve tee and a cap tilted slightly to the side is his go-to look. I've always ... [ Discover More ]

Where Does the Time Go?

darwin Collage

I recently flew to the Northern Territory which is where I grew up, it was a secret and utterly magical. Darwin was brilliant. I turned 28, surprised my friends, got dressed up for the races, got to snuggle babies and chilled out by the beach on numerous occasions. The only thing that could have made my birthday sweeter was having my boys by my side. Whilst everyone down home was wearing track pants and jumpers, I was working my shorts and chiffon numbers. The weather was spectacularly ... [ Discover More ]

This post was brought to you by MasterCard "Would you and the boys like to come Kayaking with us on Sunday to explore the Manly area?" An email from Sonia greeted me on my return from New York. "Sure" I said. "Of Course" I said, "That would be lovely!". The whole time I'm thinking "What am I going to wear? How am I going to get up that early on a Sunday? Will my ass even fit in a kayak?" Shaking off the jet lag and the doubt I was determined to experience it. My first challenge was ... [ Discover More ]

Teenage Me

me99 1

My relationship with food has changed many times over the years but a few factors have unfortunately remained constant. Yes, as you can imagine food isn't just fuel to me, we're inextricably linked emotionally. Often I'd be fuelled purely by my feelings and not hunger when I entered the kitchen. I wouldn't say I've had to battle with food (if I did I constantly waved the white flag, hello thighs!) but as I've gotten older I've also become more perceptive not only of what I eat but why. They say ... [ Discover More ]

"T'was a sweet song that filled the night, her hand pressing softly against my back as I was lulled to sleep. Her warmth surrounds me as fear slips away and the night is yet again claimed for silent slumber." - Aidan, 3.5 years old At least thats how I hope Aidan feels about me at 1am (and 2am... 3am... 4am... 5am) when I'm crouched by his bedside, cold and shivering, stroking his temple in a rhythmic pattern willing him to sleep so I can get some of my own. I don't know where he gets it from ... [ Discover More ]

Cheap Easter Gift in Less than 1 Minute

easter 2

We'd spent all weekend up the coast relaxing and forgetting about the real world only to return home to a never ending to-do list. One of those things was Easter, the time of year when mothers across Australia get their craft-on and buy all the feathery, shiny and crepe-papery things from the $2 shop. I already had a game plan, I had to make some for Aidan's teachers and a few for his friends. It was so simple that I could: Make it in a Minute! Here's what you'll need*: Printed Paper ... I was on facebook sticking my nose into everyone else's business when Suger Coat It's latest post popped up into my feed. You know when you read a great blog post and then you find yourself writing paragraph after paragraph in the comments, almost hijacking the entire post? Well that's what I almost did so I messaged Suger to let her know I ... [ Discover More ]

Driving Holiday

Driving in the holidays can seem daunting but since we don't own a private jet or a helicopter we're kind of used to it. Preparation on my part is pretty easy, pack the bags, arrange for the neighbours to take care of our bins for us and clean the house so we have something pleasant to come home to. As for the car itself I drive it 90% of the time so my job is to keep it clean and filled with fuel, the mechanics of the car and all that other stuff is usually left up to Steve. This year we got ... [ Discover More ]

FAMILY PORTRAIT 2012-1

Everyone is currently napping and I've stolen a few moments to myself to blog. I'm not sure exactly what I want to say as my brain is still slightly switched off. I'm learning that taking a break is ok, actually it's necessary. March is fast approaching and with it a new fashion season. If the last three years are anything to go buy, things will get busy again soon enough. Right now, in this moment I'm appreciating the stillness, the quiet and the ocean breeze. Those who follow me on facebook ... [ Discover More ]

Lazy Girl Backyard Party

Stephanie was moping around the house earlier today, complaining of boredom. It was hot outside and we were both too lazy to actually go out and do something so I grabbed the outdoor umbrella, a couple of tables, cushions and rugs and set up a little lazy girl party in the backyard just for the two of us. Obviously we had some snacks, cool drinks, a big pile of magazines to read and some sunscreen to slop on. Steph has been paying me out for how white I am, you could almost say I am ... Let it be said though, our house is tiny so on the weekend we decided to get out on the road and go for a Sunday drive. Disregard the look on Steve's face, he loooooves Sunday drives as does Aidan. Dinner, a Birds Eye View

Birds Eye Steam Fresh Aidan Trolley

Sponsored by Nuffnang Australia The last few months have been manic. In order for me to balance out my work flow, the housework, playtime and downtime a few things have had to slide... fancy elaborate meals at dinner time were one of them. I don't feel guilty though as I made sure they were still healthy. Coming into the warmer months has made it easier, lots of pasta salads, quick sizzling steak and fresh seasonal salads. We've also been eating a lot of steamed vegetables and fish so when ... [ Discover More ]
