One Dress - 3 Ways

One Dress - 3 Ways I've been thinking a lot about my wardrobe lately and as I get ready to head off to New York, planning outfits and thinking of the types of things I'd like to buy, I realised that I'm slowly curating my wardrobe. Now don't get me wrong, I know wardrobes are meant to be ever evolving (well the fun ones anyway) but as I've learnt more about different brands, manufacturing processes, quality fabrics, unique prints and flattering silhouettes I've been gradually letting the crap pieces fall into the donation bin. I've been fortunate to have worked myself into a knowledgable position within the industry [more]

Eye Lash Extensions

Eye Lash Extensions Late yesterday afternoon I nervously headed to one of the local beauty salons to get eye lash extensions applied. If I'm honest I always thought it was a bit silly to pay upward of $100 every 2-3 weeks just for long lashes but after having what felt like permanent panda eyes during FFFWeek last year I started to reconsider. As much as I liked the look of false lashes (and I have gotten better at applying them) they're time consuming and tedious when you're in a rush. Peeling them off and getting rid of the gunk was another thing I hated. [more]

Camera Gear Packing

Camera Gear Packing Last year I failed to deliver on news whilst in New York, I felt horrible about it but I tried. I tried to share every little part of my trip but I felt a constant delay. A delay in editing, in finding the right words, in finding sleep. I realised that the way I planned to share was as grand as it was flawed so this year I've made changes. Limited internet was my biggest hurdle so I've bought an unlimited calls and data sim upon recommendations from other Aussies who have traveled to the USA for work. Unfortunately I'm unable [more]

The Ultimate Makeover - Part One

The Ultimate Makeover - Part OneIn the early hours of the morning almost exactly a year ago today, I headed into the city to donate some of my time and skill to a worthy cause. I was to capture the special moments of the Ultimate Makeover for five very special women who will forever be engrained in my memory. Cancer effects so many of us at different stages and ages in our lives, directly or otherwise. Stylist Donny Galella wanted to use his talent, contacts and generous nature to create an experience to make life a little sweeter for those who were suffering. He did a call [more]

Aussie Curves - Green

Aussie Curves - Green Since I recently dared myself to wear a bright green dress and loved myself silly in it, I've been on a mission to add more green to my wardrobe. I'd never worn anything from New Zealand label Lucabella before so when they contacted me out of the blue and asked if I'd be interested in trying some of their range I jumped at the chance! Without even blinking I knew I needed this cardi for "Green Week". The flourish print, the tiny buttons and the beautiful shade of jade green... sigh. I ordered a size L and it fits comfortably, the buttons [more]

Cool Change

Cool Change Brr... winter is definitely coming but I'm loving it. Autumn is my favourite time of year, the sky is filled with honeycomb light, the trees glow, the air is filled with a mix of smoke and dewy grass and best of all I get to wear layers. Toss the heels and trade them in for flats and you've got my go-to daily outfit.  I love comfortable clothing for everyday wear and layering thin, gorgeous fabrics is my favourite way of dressing as the seasons change. Longline Cardigan - TS14+ circa 2012 Tank Dress - Virtu circa 2012 Enamel Shell Necklace - Birthday Gift [more]

I love activewear, it’s comfy, often bright and makes me feel energetic when I wear it. I’ve shared a few posts about gear I love so when Nicole, one of my lovely readers, asked me where she could find plus size activewear I thought it would be a great thing to expand on. I started [...]

After spending the first day in NYC wandering close to our hotel my roomie Caitlin and I decided to go further up the block and explore a little more. I finally got to see Macy’s but I was too intimidated to go in, deciding it would be less crowded during the week. I was wrong [...]

That’s right, I’m talking women’s business but that doesn’t mean I want my male readers to skip this post. Everyone knows a woman or girl who experiences a painful period. I’m not talking about ouchie cramps that a panadol or two will knock over. I’m talking ashen faced, foetal position, guttural moaning, hips on fire, discharge and clots, loss [...]

Towards the end of last year Australian Owned camera bag designers 3 Annies released a limited edition of 20 Silver “Audrey Lu” Leather Camera Bags and thanks to some timely Christmas money I contacted them in January and asked if they had any left. They had just two left but they wanted to give one [...]

Last Thursday I got dressed up and headed into the city for an event showcasing GLAM by Manicare products. I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t heard of Manicare or used their products before. I’d tried a few of their lashes and didn’t mind them but was keen to learn a few more tricks to apply [...]

We’d spent all weekend up the coast relaxing and forgetting about the real world only to return home to a never ending to-do list. One of those things was Easter, the time of year when mothers across Australia get their craft-on and buy all the feathery, shiny and crepe-papery things from the $2 shop. I [...]

Super casual outfit photos for this week’s theme. I found “Yellow” really difficult and nothing ever seemed quite right when I was out op shopping… that is until today. Steve, Aidan and I are spending the weekend by the sea thanks to a wonderful friend who understood I was in need of a break. We’ve [...]

We’ve all been run down with the flu and I’ve been fighting it off for the last week or so and it’s wearing on me. I’m constantly up late with my little boy who normally sleeps through the night and Steve has man-flu so we all know how that goes. I’ve taken them both to [...]

My eyelids are heavy but my eyes are dry and refuse to close. My mind races and I barely remember to blink. I’m sitting still but I’m exhausted, my muscles tense and ache even whilst willing themselves to relax.  It’s in those moments, be it daylight or night, that music washes over me like the sea over [...]

This week’s theme is Military and I guess you wouldn’t pick it unless I told you. One of the things I love about Aussie Curves is that the challenges are all open to interpretation. I don’t really own anything military so I was stumped. I knew I wanted to shop-my-wardrobe so I stared at what I [...]

Bette Midler had it right. There’s something about that special non-sexual relationship between two people that is utterly addictive. Friends can consume you, lift you higher than you’ve ever known, drag you down with harsh reality until your bawling and make you laugh until you wet your pants. I have friends, many actually but as [...]
